Summerfield Senior Living of Gulfport features 88 apartment-style residences, 18 of which are exclusively dedicated to Memory Care. Recently completed in 2021, the community has eight interconnected buildings, but unlike most senior living communities, it sits on 21 acres of rolling land and is the first Summerfield location to feature a pecan orchard, scenic walking paths, a stocked fishing pond

with pier, and a bird sanctuary. We recently completed our barn and have horse and cows on site, a resident greenhouse, a crop garden and more. The location off of North Swan Road in Gulfport, Mississippi just east of Highway 49 and north of I-10, provides a high and dry location with easy access through free community provided transportation to all of the Gulf Coast attractions, including dining, shopping and more.

Seth with Your Choice Senior Care hosted a penny auction today at Summerfield so intense it made Wall Street look like a garage sale.

Christine came in with a coin purse and left with three snacks, a laundry bag, and someone else’s reading glasses. Pete tried to bluff with a dramatic “I’ll raise you TWO pennies,” like he was in a high-stakes poker game. Nobody blinked. Nancy absolutely cleaned house—word is she’s been hoarding pennies since 1973 and finally saw her moment.

At one point, someone dropped a penny and six people dove for it like it was the last lifeboat off the Titanic. Staff had to pause the auction twice: once for a snack break, and once because Lilly insisted on recounting her pennies “for accuracy and justice.”

Final result: 12 new rivalries formed, and one very suspiciously competitive bingo champion now banned from bringing in “lucky pennies.”

Our Good Friday Easter Eggstravaganza celebrated many things- we kicked off the day with a bake sale benefiting our Activities Department, we held an Easter Egg Hunt co-sponsored by The Easter Bunny and our friends at TD Pharmacy and we were able to gather in our new multi-purpose space adjacent to our dining room!

Today our Healthcare Cordinator made the rounds at Summerfield armed with the most powerful tool in healthcare… SNACKS.

Nothing boosts morale quite like your Healthcare Coordinator popping up with chips, cookies, and the kind of treats that mysteriously disappear faster than charting gets behind. Our clinical team didn’t walk — they teleported to that snack cart.

Summerfield Senior Living is proud to announce its newest project currently under construction and slated for opening in Summer of 2020! Nestled on 21 beautiful acres on North Swan Road in Gulfport, Mississippi just off of Highway 49 north of I-10 – the property will consist of 88 apartment style residences. The location for the development will combine the access and proximity to all of the resources and attractions that the Gulfport-Biloxi metro area has to offer with the serenity of the rural setting enjoyed by many residents of South Mississippi. The community and its facilities are being developed in order to co-exist amongst the natural beauty of the property creating a nature reserve with stocked ponds and ample walking trails. The community facilities will be comprised of 8 interconnected buildings surrounding impeccably landscaped courtyards. The community will be outfitted with all of the wonderful common area amenities to be expected from award winning Summerfield Senior Living property including secured premises with 24 hour on-site staff, restaurant style dining serving 3 meals per day, full service beauty salon, media and recreation room, chapel, laundry services and numerous other amenities included to maximize the quality of life for its residents. Additionally, our dedicated staff will coordinate transportation and offer activities to residents designed to be both fun and engaging. Assistance with activities of daily life “ADL” and other supplementary services will be available to residents as needed and will be offered on an a-la-carte basis. The apartment residences in the community will consist of studios, 1 and 2 bedroom units with 70 apartments reserved for independent and assisted living residents and 18 designated Memory Care apartments to be housed independently on the west-wing of the property.
