The teenage years can feel like a moving target for both teens and parents.

Emotions shift quickly. Pressure builds. Communication can break down.

At Premier, several of our therapists work with adolescents and families navigating anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns.

Our clinicians focus on helping teens build healthier coping skills while also helping families strengthen communication and connection at home.

Support during these years can make a lasting difference in how teens manage stress and how families stay connected through it.

A lot of people say they are tired.

But what they are feeling goes deeper than that.

Sleep doesn’t fully fix it.
Time off doesn’t fully reset it.
Even things they usually enjoy feel like effort.

That’s often burnout.

Burnout builds when the demands stay high and recovery stays low for too long.

Therapists look at patterns like:
ongoing stress, limited rest, and feeling mentally checked out.

Once burnout sets in, pushing harder usually makes it worse.

The work becomes learning where your capacity actually is and what needs to shift to protect it.

By the end of the week, most people have been carrying more than they planned to.

Work. Family. Conversations that stayed on your mind longer than expected.

Resetting is important, but it looks different for everyone.

Some people need quiet.
Some need movement.
Some need space to talk things through.

What actually helps you reset at the end of a long week?

A lot of parents are stretched thin right now.

Work schedules. School demands. Activities. Trying to keep everything running.

By the end of the day, there is not much energy left.

That does not mean you are doing something wrong. It means you are carrying a lot.

Therapists often remind parents that consistency matters more than perfection.

Small, steady support goes further than trying to get everything right.

Give yourself room to be human in the process.

Many parents know something is not quite right, but they are not always sure what they are seeing.

Big reactions. Trouble focusing. Emotional ups and downs that feel hard to manage.

At Premier Professional Counseling, several of our therapists work with children and teens navigating challenges like anxiety, ADHD, and behavioral concerns.

Our clinicians help children learn how to manage emotions in healthier ways while also giving parents clear, practical strategies they can use at home.

When a child is struggling, the entire family feels it.

Support helps everyone move forward with more clarity and less stress.

A lot of arguments are not really about what people think they are about.

The conversation might be about dishes, schedules, or who forgot what.

Underneath it, there is usually something else. Feeling unheard. Feeling unsupported. Feeling stretched too thin.

Therapists spend a lot of time helping people slow conversations down enough to hear what is actually being said.

When that happens, the tone shifts. The outcome shifts.

Pay attention to what keeps coming up in your conversations this week.
There is usually more underneath it.

April is Stress Awareness Month, and many people are carrying more than they realize.

Stress often builds quietly. Long days. Interrupted rest. Constant responsibility.

Over time, the body responds.

You might notice headaches, low energy, difficulty concentrating, or feeling on edge.

Therapists help people slow down enough to recognize these patterns and adjust how they respond to them.

Relief usually starts with awareness.

Take a moment to notice where stress has been sitting in your body lately.

By the middle of the week, a lot of people are already running low.

Work has been steady. Home still needs attention. Everybody needs something.

That kind of pace can wear on you without making much noise.

Therapists often see the early signs in small shifts. Less patience. Trouble focusing. Feeling mentally checked out.

Those signals matter.

They are your body’s way of asking for a reset.

Pay attention to what feels different this week.
You deserve support before things feel overwhelming.

Today was a meaningful one for conversations around mental health across Mississippi.

Our founder and clinical director, Jocelyn Gavin Lane, LCSW, MPH, participated in the NASW Mississippi Chapter conference, joining social workers and leaders from across the state who are doing the work every day to support individuals, families, and communities.

This year’s discussions included important conversations around crisis intervention and how we continue to respond to people during some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

Spaces like this matter.

They give professionals the opportunity to learn from one another, strengthen their approach, and stay connected to what communities truly need.

At Premier, that commitment shows up in the way our clinicians support clients every day across the Gulf Coast.

We are proud to see Jocelyn representing both our practice and our community in conversations that help move mental health care forward in Mississippi.

Today we honor Jocelyn Gavin Lane, LCSW, MPH, the founder of Premier Professional Counseling Services and a leader whose work has shaped the mental health landscape across the Mississippi Gulf Coast and beyond.

Jocelyn is a proud alumna of Jackson State University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work. She went on to receive her Master of Public Health in Healthcare Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi. In 2013, she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and officially opened the doors to Premier — building a practice grounded in compassion, accessibility, and community care.

Her leadership journey runs deep. She is a graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast and the Department of Veterans Affairs Leadership Development Institute. She founded The Pink Lotus Project, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and mentoring girls, and she serves on several community boards, lending her voice to efforts that support families, youth, and mental wellness throughout the region.

Jocelyn is also the visionary behind the Mississippi Minority Mental Health Symposium, an annual conference that brings together professionals and community members to confront stigma, elevate awareness, and expand access to culturally informed care.

As an author, Jocelyn has written The Power of Self Love: Breaking Free From Unhealthy Connections and served as the visionary author of Mind Your Mental Health: 21 Stories of Growth and Healing. Her journals and wellness publications continue to support individuals on their healing journeys.

Affectionately known as Just Jocelyn Your Favorite Therapist, she specializes in working with adults facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, mood and personality disorders, and relationship challenges. She also enjoys supporting older teens who need a grounded, honest therapeutic space.

Jocelyn is the creator of Vibe & Heal, a mental health conversation series designed to bring women together in safe, supportive environments — a reflection of her lifelong commitment to community-centered healing.

Her mantra guides the heart of the practice:
“We are moving the conversation of mental health from the back room to the front porch.”

We are grateful for her vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to making mental health care accessible, relatable, and real for our community.
