Ballet dancers are incredible at creating beautiful lines, but sometimes those lines are held together with a little too much tension.

This dancer was relying on her upper traps to control her overhead arm position. When the upper traps take over, the scapula loses its stable anchor and the body has to work harder to maintain alignment.

Instead of cueing her to simply “relax the shoulders,” we used a PRI technique to activate the lower traps, triceps, and abdominals together. This combination helps anchor the scapula to the rib cage so the arm can move overhead with better control and less compensation.

The result?
Less upper trap dominance and smoother, more efficient upper extremity motion.

Sometimes better movement isn’t about trying harder, it’s about getting the right muscles working together.

Dancers: if you’re struggling with shoulder tension, posture, or overhead arm control, a movement evaluation can help uncover what your body is really using to stabilize.

Right knee pain isn’t always a “knee problem.” 👀
Sometimes the knee is just taking on rotation and stress that should be coming from the pelvis + hips instead.

In this PRI-based drill, we’re using a resisted right glute max to help the body shift and properly load into the left hip, so the pelvis can access rotation where it’s meant to happen — not at the knee.

✨ Better hip mechanics
✨ Less compensatory knee torque
✨ More efficient movement + pain relief

When the body starts to shake, that’s often the nervous system adapting and learning a new, more supported strategy.

Rewire the system → change the pain 👏

The ability outlets to open directly affects an athlete's ability to move and be adaptable to the variations within their sport. This is just a brief explanation of what we saw in the clinic today regarding a beach volleyball athlete.
Check out our website to learn more about us and if this video resonates with you, realize that it might not be just fatigue or lack of focus affecting your ability to be adaptable and quick.

Welcome to 2026! We hope that everyone had an amazing holiday!
Starting out the year with a general explanation of what it means to be truly grounded in order to move.
Give yourself the gift as the year gets started of coming in, getting tested, and implementing things on your own to relieve pain, move better, improve performance, and hopefully minimize chance of injury.
A little reminder that grounding in movement and sports is not symmetrical meaning that while one side of the body is compressed loaded and grounding The other side is decompressed and free (ie loading/ compressing left side while right is decompressed for a right arm to be free and throw) We need to train functionally and train the ability for each side to be working in an alternating fashion.
The ability to do the above will allow your body to deal with the variability of movement in sport as well as in life.

Are you unsure of your movement prep or warm up routines. Do you feel, even after warming up that you are still not quite "ready" to move or that something is still tight or sore? Do you have to keep grabbing various massage tools to get you "ready"

Creating functional stability/grounding to enhance functional mobility before training is like dynamic warmups on steroids. It's the brain -body connect that will create truthful/uncompensated movement strategies.

Grounding gains (right)on one side while other side (left) is open and free. I actually spent a few sets on each side so I could assess which side was more challenged and spend more time there.

If you are struggling with recurring issues out there, we would love to help you implement a specific routine that matches your body so that you can optimize your movement and feel your best!
