We were so proud to be a small part of this fabulous production! Thank you for your generous donation!

Yesterday Brennan Prince, director of “Next to Normal” and our creative director, visited The Mental Health Association of South Mississippi to present them with a donation on behalf of The DEN Theatrics.

We are thankful for their participation in our production of “Next to Normal” and for supporting our mission of outreach through entertainment. We are honored to be able to present this donation to you.

The past few weeks have been busy! Here are some highlights.

Liz Creel our Outreach Case Manager played a part in getting this couple and their son housed. As you can imagine, they are incredibly grateful to have a safe place to live after being on the streets for a long time.

We had three new WRAP - Wellness Recovery Action Plan Advanced Level Facilitators conduct a class for new Co-Facilitators around the state. In partnership with MS Mississippi Department of Mental Health, this step increases opportunities for MS citizens to attend a future WRAP class.

We also had two of our Mental Health First Aid facilitators present the class in Bay St Louis to a group of eager students. They now better understand what mental illness is and how to connect with someone they feel may be struggling.

We're incredibly proud of our Outreach Case Managers. Their tireless work and unwavering dedication are a powerful testament to the impact of community collaboration. By surrounding individuals with a robust network of resources, they aren't just checking boxes- they're changing lives. Their efforts prove that when we work together, we can create meaningful, lasting change for those who need it most.

Best wishes on your new home!

Biloxi Police Department introduced this friend to our outreach team that included staff members from Mental Health Association of South Mississippi, Back Bay Mission, Open Doors Homeless Coalition and MCeRT-(Mobile Crisis Response Team) with Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources. Through collaboration a housing plan was created that included acquiring necessary documentation, clothing, shoes and household items along with transportation to appointments and BEST of all to his new HOME!

This is truly a story of many people coming together to create a positive change in someone’s life and put them on the path to success with the support they need!

A big thank you to our Gulf Coast Respite House Director, Nicole Pierce! She grabbed her clippers and took care of some low hanging, big nuisances of limbs. You rock!

In the 1960s, Opal Smith began a quiet revolution - a mission to build a space where individuals facing mental illness could feel heard, understood, and valued. Decades later, her daughter Dorothy continues that legacy as a dedicated Ex-Officio Board Member of the Mental Health Association. We celebrate their enduring impact alongside the hundreds of volunteers who’ve carried this torch of advocacy and openness. Together, they’ve helped shape a community where compassion leads the way.

A HUGE shout out to John, our Drop In Program Assistant. He started early this morning and has been braving the heat with his power washer, giving our building a good cleaning. Thank you, not only your continued dedication to our members, but also ensuring we all have a nice, clean building to come to.
