More than 37 million Americans live with diabetes. An estimated 1 in 5 are unaware of it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Despite its prevalence, diabetes remains surrounded by misinformation, stigma and confusion, which can delay care and worsen patient outcomes.

Dr. Kenneth Anderson is a board-certified internist at Gunnison Valley Health Family Medicine Clinic. We recently caught up with him in our "Ask a Doc" series, to help clarify some of the myth and facts around diabetes.

The Mountain Clinic, located at the base area in the Axtel Building, will be open throughout the holidays from 9 AM to 5 PM. We are here to assist you with flu-like symptoms, injuries sustained on the mountain, or any other urgent care needs.

We were so grateful for the Gunnison Community and their support of our Senior Care Center Residents.

(1/3) The Blossoms, a young women’s group, spent time with our residents hosting activities like manicures, ornament making, and gingerbread house decorating.

(2/3) The Catholic Ladies Group collected gift donations from St. Pete's. They helped wrap and deliver a gift to each resident at the SCC.

(3/3) One of our nurses shared their hedgehog with residents, bringing smiles to many faces.

Moments like these mean so much to our residents and remind us of the power of community across generations. 💙

Are you a high school student interested in a career in healthcare? This is your chance to sign up for our Medical Pathways course and learn from the expert caregivers here at Gunnison Valley Health.

Students will learn real-world skills and understand the training and education needed for each specialty. You will also be able to build relationships with GVH staff, which can lead to future shadowing, CNA classes, internships, and employment opportunities.

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome a very special guest to the Mary & Jack Blake EMS Station. Families from across the community stopped in to meet Santa and enjoy cookies, cocoa, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Join us tomorrow for Gunnison Valley Health’s Medical Pathways Info Night!

Parents and students are invited to the Gunnison Valley Health conference room on December 10, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., for a brief presentation and Q&A session to learn more about the Medical Pathways Program.

Medical Pathways is an opportunity to learn about careers in health care. Open to high school students, 9 - 12. preregistration required, and sessions will run Wednesday nights from January - April, 2026.

Registration is limited. Deadline 12/31/2025
