It was an honor to be a guest speaker last month to promote the services and needs of Northwest Domestic Crisis Services. They have been there for many, myself included, and we are blessed to have them as a resource in Guymon and the NW region of Oklahoma.
Domestic violence has a plethora of silent victims and survivors. Help give a voice to the voiceless. Consider donating to their needs whether in clothing, toiletries, or calling to clarify current needs at 580-338-2780.

Although this article is geared towards
women, these are real concerns for men as well.

Prevention is key in all we do in healthcare and that means educating one another on the fact that being roofied and/or r**ed/sexually assaulted is a real problem; not just in the big cities, but also in your, small, rural hometowns.

Did you know there are safety straws that changes colors if your drink was spiked …. patent pending? But, there are other options (see links in comments) that can be used from drink covers to sticker-type testers. Please share any other resources!!

Be aware. Educate yourself and loved ones.

Listen to your body. Keep advocating for yourself, no matter the type of pain present. 💝

13 years of fighting for answers. 51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with Seckin Endometriosis Center. My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping - was taken care of. I can FINALLY say that I’m feeling better. Genuinely healing. I can function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain. Slowly, slowly gaining my strength back. I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again. I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult being told that my pain was just part of being a woman. I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak. That is not ok. Young girls and women shouldn’t feel alone with pain in the driver’s seat of their lives. We need to take away the stigma of talking about women’s health. It’s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale.

To honor my mom, I have asked that my patients call me Angela in the clinic setting. It’s my middle name. My mom loved angels, she’s now an angel, and she named me Angela after her love of angels. It felt only fitting. I will always have my mom in my heart emulating her ability to help others at the forefront of the care provided.🌹
