The City of Newark and Essex County has activated Code Blues from January 22 at 7pm through January 31 at 9am.
Please take care of yourself and one another during this stretch of extreme cold.

Stay safe with these essentials:
- Check on seniors, neighbors, and unhoused residents🧡
- Dress in layers and limit time outdoors🧥
- Use shelters and warming stations if needed🏠
- Bring pets indoors🐾
- Report anyone who may need help to NJ 211📞

Code Blue is activated when temperatures drop below 32° or during severe weather. For participating shelters and warming centers, view the graphic or visit www.nj211.org.

Hey Friends, It’s Test Tuesday!! 🩸

When was the last time that you and/or your partner had an HIV test?

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that sexually active people get tested for HIV at least once a year and include testing as part of their routine healthcare.

We strongly encourage those who feel they may have come into contact with the virus to get tested right away. Let’s continue to work together to prevent HIV. Educating ourselves, knowing our status and practicing safe sex/preventative methods (condoms, prep, etc.) are a great way to begin!!

Are you feeling over stimulated? Do you know what “Cortisol” is? Well…

Cortisol is a crucial steroid hormone from the adrenal glands that manages stress, metabolism (blood sugar, fats, proteins), inflammation, blood pressure, and the sleep-wake cycle, working as the body’s “alarm system” by boosting energy for the fight-or-flight response, with levels naturally peaking in the morning and dropping at night; however, consistently high or low levels, often from chronic stress, can signal conditions like Cushing’s syndrome (too high) or Addison’s disease (too low), causing symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, anxiety, and skin issues, requiring medical evaluation.
