Old or poorly stored makeup—especially cream-based products like lip gloss, mascara, eyeshadow, and eyeliner—can harbor bacteria, fungi, and mold.
This can lead to breakouts, irritation, and even eye infections. 💄

Protect your skin with these simple habits:

✨ Clean your brushes regularly (every 7–10 days), store makeup in a cool, dry place, avoid sharing products, and always remove makeup before bed.

✨ Also pay attention to changes in smell, color, or texture—and don’t ignore the “Period After Opening” symbol. If you open something new, jot down the date so you actually know how long it’s been in use.

Simple changes, big difference for your skin health. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Each season brings new skin needs—we’re here with sun safety tips to help you stay protected year-round!

1) Wear SPF 30+ sunscreen every day and reapply every 2 hours—even when it’s cloudy.
2) Cover up with sun-protective clothing and accessories: long sleeves, wide-brim hats, and UV-protective sunglasses help shield your skin (and eyes) from sun damage.
3) Seek shade whenever possible, especially between 10AM–4PM, and take shade breaks throughout the day.
4) Stay well hydrated—your skin feels the effects more than you think.

Enjoy the beautiful spring weather! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Don’t overlook one of the most important ways to protect your skin and vision! 🕶️

Wear UV protective sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays which can cause eyelid skin cancer, premature signs of aging, and eye conditions.

The delicate skin around your eyes is one of the first places to show sun damage - and one of the most vulnerable.

A few simple tips when choosing sunglasses:
✔️ Go for 100% UV protection
✔️ Choose oversized or wraparound styles for better coverage
✔️ Wear them every day, even when it’s cloudy

Protect your skin. Protect your eyes. This small habit can have a long-term impact on your health! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Sun Safety for Tennis Players 🎾 Spending extended time outdoors—especially during activities like tennis—means increased UV exposure. Consistent sun protection is essential to help prevent sunburn, premature skin aging, and reduce the risk of skin cancer. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Simple Tips for Spring:

1️⃣ As the weather warms up and humidity increases, switch to a lighter moisturizer (instead of the heavier cream you used in the winter).
2️⃣ Be sun safe. Stock up on broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+), lip balm with SPF, sunglasses with UV protection, and a wide-brimmed hat.
3️⃣ Check the expiration dates on your sunscreen and skincare products. Discard anything past its expiration date or anything with an unusual color, smell, or consistency.

Happy Spring! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Spring is here, and with it: gardening season! 🌱

To help you garden safely, the American Academy of Dermatology shares these expert skin protection tips:

1) Cover up! Protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays, as well as thorns and spines, with long sleeves and gloves. A wide-brimmed hat and closed-toe shoes are also recommended.
2) Use sunscreen! It is ALWAYS a good idea to apply SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen before heading outdoors—especially if you’ll be gardening for a few hours. Don’t forget to protect your lips with an SPF lip balm.
3) Avoid the sun’s strongest hours! The sun’s rays are strongest between 10AM and 4PM, so try to garden in the early morning or late afternoon.
4) Don’t touch your face! Keep your hands off your face to avoid getting sap or dirt on your skin. To wipe away sweat, keep a clean washcloth on hand.
5) Hit the showers! After gardening, take a shower and change into clean clothes. Be sure to machine wash your gardening clothes before wearing them again.

We can't wait to see how beautiful your gardens look! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by age 70? Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S.—but prevention and early detection can save lives.

Here are dermatologist-approved ways to help protect your skin:

✅ Check your skin every month and see a board-certified dermatologist if you notice anything new, changing, or unusual.
✅ Visit your dermatologist at least once a year for a professional skin exam.
✅ Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily—and don’t forget your lips.
✅ Protect yourself with sun-protective clothing, UV-blocking sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat.

Dr. Ravits’ favorite thing about the spring is going for a bike ride and enjoying the warm weather—so enjoy the season and be sun safe. 🚲 UV rays are strongest during the day (10AM-4PM). Even on cloudy days, the sun can still damage your skin.

1) Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and lip balm with SPF about 30 minutes before heading out. Don’t skip often-missed spots—your nose, tops of your ears, back of your neck, and backs of your legs.

2) Bring a travel-sized sunscreen in your pocket or bag and reapply every two hours (or sooner if you’re sweating). It’s an easy way to prevent burns and long-term sun damage.

3) Sun-safe smart gear:
• UPF (sun-protective) long sleeves and leggings or long pants
• UV-protective sunglasses to shield your eyes from sun, dust, and wind
• A bike helmet with a visor or a thin cycling cap (underneath the helmet) to protect your scalp and face

4) Plan rides for the early morning or evening to avoid the harsh midday rays, and choose shaded routes when possible.

Enjoy the ride! 👩🏻‍⚕️
