❤️ Red Yeast Rice & Heart Health

What you should know 👇

Red yeast rice is a natural supplement that has been used for centuries and may support healthy cholesterol levels, a key factor in heart disease prevention.

✨ Potential benefits:
• Helps lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
• Supports overall cardiovascular health
• May be an option for people who cannot tolerate statins
• Works best alongside diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes

🔬 Red yeast rice contains monacolin K, a compound similar to low-dose statins, which helps reduce cholesterol production in the liver.

⚠️ Important note:
Not all supplements are created equal. Quality, dosing, and medical guidance matter. Always talk to your healthcare provider before starting especially if you take cholesterol medications or have liver disease.

🫀 Food, movement, sleep, and consistency still come first. Supplements support they don’t replace.

❄️ Snow shoveling = a hidden heart stressor ❄️

Cold temps + heavy lifting + sudden exertion can seriously strain your heart especially if you’re not used to intense activity.

🚨 Why it’s risky:
• Cold causes blood vessels to constrict
• Shoveling spikes heart rate & blood pressure
• Holding your breath increases strain
• Early morning shoveling = higher heart risk

⚠️ Warning signs to NEVER ignore:
Chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, jaw or arm pain

❤️ Heart-smart tips:
✔️ Warm up first
✔️ Push snow when possible—don’t lift
✔️ Take frequent breaks
✔️ Dress warm & breathe steadily
✔️ If you have heart risk factors… ask for help

Your driveway isn’t worth your heart.
Stay safe this winter ❄️🫀

What happens in your body when you work out 💪❤️

During exercise, your heart beats faster to deliver oxygen-rich blood to your muscles. Blood vessels open up, energy stores are used, and hormones like adrenaline help you perform.

After your workout, your heart rate and blood pressure come down, muscles repair and grow stronger, and your body becomes more efficient at using oxygen and fuel.

The payoff:
A stronger heart, better circulation, lower blood pressure, improved cholesterol, and reduced risk of heart disease — plus more energy and endurance over time.

✨ Every workout is an investment in your heart

Refined sugar increases the risk of heart disease by:
• Raising triglycerides
• Lowering good (HDL) cholesterol
• Increasing inflammation
• Promoting insulin resistance and weight gain
• Raising blood pressure

People who consume high amounts of added sugar have a significantly higher risk of heart attack and stroke. Cutting back on sugary drinks and processed foods helps protect heart health.

Va**ng for 30 days can:
• Start ni****ne addiction
• Cause coughing, throat irritation, chest tightness
• Increase heart rate and blood pressure
• Trigger anxiety, headaches, poor sleep
• Irritate lungs (even ni****ne-free vapes)

What won’t likely happen in 30 days:
• Permanent lung damage
• Cancer or serious heart disease

If you stop after 30 days:
• Most effects are reversible
• Lungs and cravings improve within weeks

Bottom line: Not harmless, but early and usually reversible if you stop immediately

A hole in the heart — like a PFO or ASD — can let a clot travel from the right side of the heart to the left, bypassing the lungs. The clot can then reach the brain and block blood flow, causing a stroke (a paradoxical embolism).

Doctors find it with an echocardiogram, sometimes using a bubble test to see if blood crosses between the heart’s chambers.

Prevention can include blood thinners, closing the hole with a catheter procedure, and managing clot risks like staying active and avoiding dehydration

⚠️ Possible Early Warning Signs (Weeks to a Month Before a Heart Attack)

1. Unusual fatigue or weakness
• Feeling exhausted for no clear reason, even after rest.
• Common in women — sometimes the first sign.

2. Chest discomfort (not always pain)
• Pressure, squeezing, heaviness, or a burning feeling that comes and goes.
• May feel like indigestion or heartburn.

3. Nausea or upset stomach
• Can mimic a flu or stomach bug.
• May come with bloating, burping, or loss of appetite.

4. Headaches, dizziness, or lightheadedness
• Caused by reduced oxygen flow or blood pressure changes.
• May be accompanied by blurry vision or a feeling of faintness.

5. Numbness or tingling
• Often in the left arm, jaw, back, or shoulder, but can occur in either arm.
• May feel like pins and needles or heaviness.

6. Shortness of breath
• Especially during mild activity or while lying flat.
• Sometimes occurs without chest pain.

7. Sleep disturbances or anxiety
• Feeling restless, uneasy, or waking up short of breath.

🩺 Important Notes
• Women’s symptoms can be more subtle or atypical — nausea, fatigue, or jaw/back pain are sometimes mistaken for stress or digestion issues.
• Symptoms can come and go intermittently for days or weeks before a major heart attack

Atherectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove atherosclerotic plaque (fatty deposits) from the inside of an artery.

✅ Purpose:

Atherectomy is often performed to restore blood flow in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) or coronary artery disease (CAD) when arteries become narrowed or blocked due to plaque buildup.

🔧 How It Works:
• A catheter with a specialized cutting or grinding device is inserted into the artery.
• The device shaves, cuts, or vaporizes the plaque from the arterial wall.
• The removed material is either collected in the catheter or flushed out of the body.

🛠️ Types of Atherectomy Devices:
1. Directional Atherectomy – cuts plaque in one direction.
2. Rotational Atherectomy – spins a diamond-tipped burr to grind plaque.
3. Orbital Atherectomy – spins eccentrically to sand down the plaque.
4. Laser Atherectomy – uses laser energy to vaporize the plaque.

🩺 Common Uses:
• Peripheral arteries (legs)
• Coronary arteries (heart)
• Sometimes used before or along with angioplasty or stenting

⚠️ Risks:
• Artery damage
• Blood clots
• Re-narrowing of the artery (restenosis)
• Embolization (plaque breaking off and traveling downstream)
