A stent is a small, expandable mesh tube placed inside a narrowed or blocked heart artery during an angioplasty and it plays a critical role in heart health
When plaque builds up in the arteries, it can reduce or completely block blood flow to the heart muscle. A stent acts as a scaffold, holding the artery open after it’s been widened, helping restore normal blood flow.
Why is this so important?
• Improves oxygen delivery to the heart
• Relieves chest pain (angina)
• Reduces the risk of heart attacks
• Helps keep the artery from narrowing again over time
It’s a powerful example of how advanced, minimally invasive treatments can protect the heart and save lives #
