Did you know Detransition Awareness Day (also known as Detrans Awareness Day) is held annually on March 12th to highlight the experiences of individuals who have detransitioned—those who have stopped or reversed a gender transition, such as stopping hormones or undergoing surgeries to reverse previous interventions.
The day was established in 2021 to raise public awareness, break down stigma, and create dialogue around the challenges faced by detransitioners.
Let us pray for people everywhere who have believed the lies of the evil one and by God's grace has come to know truth. May their hearts be yoked to Christ and may they be bold & courageous in speaking truth w love, grace, and an unwavering commitment to the glory of God.
Did you know that today is Detransition Awareness Day?
This day is serves as an opportunity for time to acknowledge the stories of those who once pursued gender transition but later discovered a deeper truth about who they are and who God created them to be.
Genesis 1:27 is a reminder about the truth of God’s design for gender. He created us male and female and we would like to highlight some individuals who realized this truth and detransition.
• Laura Perry Smalts – After living as a transgender man for years, Laura came to rediscover God’s design for her life and now shares a message of hope and restoration.
• Chloe Cole – Chloe has bravely spoken out about transitioning as a minor and later detransitioning, advocating for protecting young people and helping others avoid the same pain she experienced.
• Walt Heyer – Walt now reaches out to men and women struggling with transgender issues and to those who deeply regret their “sexual reassignment surgery,”
• Kathy Grace Duncan – Kathy now shares openly about her journey and encourages compassionate, truthful conversations about identity and God’s design.
Each of these voices reminds us that God’s truth brings freedom and restoration. By sharing their stories, they are helping shepherd others who feel confused, pressured, or alone by pointing them back to the hope found in Christ and the beauty of being created intentionally by God.
On this Detransition Awareness Day, let’s pray for those who are struggling with identity, listen with compassion, and support those who are courageously speaking the truth in love.
