Lois Carrano
August 24, 1945 – January 23, 2026

Lois Carrano, a woman of unwavering faith and immense love for her family, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 80 years old.

Born on August 24, 1945, Lois grew up in the vibrant neighborhoods of Brooklyn, where she developed the resilience and warmth that would define her life. It was in Brooklyn that she met James Carrano, the man who would become her lifelong partner. The two were married in 1968, beginning a journey of faith and family together. They later moved to Long Island to raise their large, bustling family before eventually settling in New Jersey.

Lois’s life was a living testament to her Christian faith. Within her church, she was a pillar of the community, serving as a beloved mentor in the Awana program and a dedicated member of the Women’s Auxiliary.

Her compassion reached far beyond the walls of the church. For years, Lois served as a volunteer for a su***de prevention hotline in Canada, offering a steady, loving voice to those in their deepest moments of despair. She had a rare gift for listening and a heart that naturally gravitated toward helping the vulnerable. In addition to her volunteer work, Lois was known for her sharp mind and helpful spirit in her professional life. She was a familiar face at H&R Block, where she worked for many years in tax preparation, guiding her clients with the same care and precision she applied to everything in life.

Lois’s greatest pride was her family. As a mother to eight, she was the anchor of a bustling, lively home. Her capacity to nurture was so vast that she also served as a foster mother, providing a safe haven and a mother’s love to many children in need over the years.
Lois is survived by her four sisters, Annajane, May, Susan, Patricia and one brother, Henry, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.

Her legacy of love continues through her children: Theodore, Venera (Bob), Jimmy, Joseph, Florence, Rose (Dan) and Andrew (Jasneet), numerous nieces and nephews and other dear family members. She was predeceased by her sons, Christopher and John.
She was also the doting grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandbabies each of whom she cherished as a unique blessing.

Services & Memorial Donations

A celebration of Lois’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29, at First Baptist Church of Haddonfield, 124 Kings Hwy E. Viewing 10 a.m.–12 p.m.; Ceremony at 12 p.m. (Cemetery to follow).

MIRIAM FENERTY SULLIVANSULLIVAN — Miriam Fenerty, of Haddonfield, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2026 ...

MIRIAM FENERTY SULLIVAN

SULLIVAN — Miriam Fenerty, of Haddonfield, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born on September 6, 1935 in Atlantic City, NJ, the daughter of Miriam Elizabeth Loughran and the Honorable Clare Gerald Fenerty, a judge on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Irish-American orator, and former United States Congressman from Pennsylvania, who passed away when she was age 16.

Miriam’s beloved husband of 61 years, Henry “Burk” Sullivan—a retired English and Philosophy Professor—predeceased her.
She will be remembered for her lifelong love of learning and language. Faith, family, friends, and compassionate care of the elderly were her priorities.

Miriam received her early education at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, where she graduated first in her class in 1953 and was awarded three academic scholarships. Wanting to stay close to home to support her mother following her father’s passing, she received scholarship offers from several local colleges, including Chestnut Hill College, from which she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in 1957, with a concentration in Romance Languages and a minor in English and Social Studies. During college, she participated in a summer study program in Guanajuato, Mexico and was a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society.

Upon Miriam’s college graduation, the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C. selected her for employment as a crypto-communications trainee. She instead chose to work as a bilingual secretary and proofreader for Wyeth International, a pharmaceutical company in Radnor, Pennsylvania. She met her husband (a former Benedictine monk and then-Villanova graduate school student) at their shared parish church, Holy Child, in Philadelphia’s Logan section.

Miriam would leave professional employment to be a full-time homemaker for 25 years, raising her five children in a Haddonfield home saturated with literature, music, fun, and organic food. After her children completed college, she returned to formal study and, in 1990, earned a Scopist Diploma from the Court Reporting Institute of Philadelphia. She took loving care of her aging mother at home during the last fifteen years of her mother’s life and later cared for two elderly single women friends at the end of their lives, while simultaneously pursuing further education and working.

Miriam worked part-time both as a Production Assistant for the Philadelphia Bar Association—where she edited and proofread The Retainer and The Shingle—and, later, as a freelance proofreader and copy editor for court reporters, ORFA Corporation of America, Grey Advertising, and J.B. Saunders Company. She was an accomplished poet.

Miriam loved Haddonfield and the Jersey Shore and spent her childhood summers in Ventnor, NJ. In their later years, her husband and she built a Ventnor family home on a lot that her father had purchased almost a century earlier, where they spent several happy summers with their children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Haddonfield for 65 years.

Miriam is survived by her devoted children: Miriam E. “Mimi” Sullivan (Andrew Hyde), Christine Sullivan Miller (Robert), Gerald Burk Sullivan (Abigail Brown Sullivan), Joseph Martin Sullivan (Dianna Wilson), John Gregory Sullivan (Mirela Draganescu); and by her cherished grandchildren: Sean, Andrew, and Matthew Sullivan, and Isabella Hyde.

A private mass of Christian Burial was held at Christ the King in Haddonfield on January 17, 2026. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Cheltenham, PA. Funeral arrangements were through Kain-Murphy in Haddonfield, NJ, which is located directly next door to the family’s former long-time home.

Anthony “Tony” Paul Egan, Jr.
Age 88; formerly of Haddonfield, NJ

Our beloved father and grandfather, and devoted husband, Anthony (Tony) Paul Egan, Jr., passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 4, 2026, in Venice, Florida.

Tony was born on June 24, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Anthony and Eleanore Egan. The oldest of six children, he shared a special bond with his siblings — Jim, Marilou, Ellie, Tom, and Susan. His father instilled in him a lifelong love of music, and many Saturday mornings found Tony and his brother Jim working together in their Philadelphia neighborhood, scrubbing marble stoops for 25 cents and cleaning windows for 75 cents — early lessons in perseverance and diligence that helped shape the strong work ethic he carried throughout his life.

A graduate of North Catholic High School, Class of 1955, Tony played varsity football and sang in school musicals. He continued playing football at Columbia Military Academy and later attended Temple University. Tony served honorably in the U.S. Army for 23 years, including at Fort Sill from 1960 to 1962, and retired from the National Guard as a Major. He also enjoyed a successful 29-year career with Bayer Corporation, earning numerous top sales awards.

In 1958, Tony met the love of his life, Miriam Agnes Nell. They were married on May 30, 1959, at Holy Name Catholic Church. True to their strong Irish Catholic heritage, Tony and Miriam embarked on the grand adventure of raising ten children and were active, devoted members of their church and community. Their 55 year marriage was a testament to their strong faith in God and their mutual devotion.

From 1962 to 1997, Tony and Miriam raised their family in Haddonfield, New Jersey, near Christ the King Parish, where their children attended school. His love of music was always apparent in the Egan household - from his early morning singing in the shower that woke the entire house to his fondness for classical music, especially on family road trips. Most memorable were trips to Cape May, where he took his children on fishing adventures that often turned into a comedy of errors and cherished stories.
Sports were a lifelong passion for Tony. Through coaching, he formed countless connections, memories, and lasting friendships.

He served as head coach of the Haddonfield Midget Football program for 28 years, coaching the Fire Company baseball team for 18 years, and was one of the founders of Haddonfield’s youth wrestling program. Tony was a constant presence at his children’s games, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines and supporting their dreams. Many wondered if he would retire from coaching once his youngest child moved on to high school, but his love for working with young athletes kept him on the field for several more years.

In retirement, Tony loved Florida and was thankful to share a quiet, lovely life with Miriam in Venice. They remained active in their faith at Our Lady of Lourdes and Epiphany Catholic Churches, both singing in the choir with Tony serving as cantor. He also cherished his years performing as a tenor with the Key Chorale of Sarasota. Other hobbies included bird and alligator watching from the back lanai, growing orchids, reading, and cheering for Philadelphia and Tampa Bay sports teams. Visiting the American Legion was another favorite pastime, where Tony and Miriam could dance together, always enjoying their favorite tune, “In the Mood.”

Tony Egan was a hardworking man who valued faith, service, and community. He gave much of his time and energy, especially through coaching, and made a meaningful impact on many lives. He will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and the effort he made to show up for others.

Tony was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Miriam Agnes Egan; his sons Patrick Michael Egan and Michael J. Egan; his parents, Anthony P. Egan, Sr. and Eleanore M. (Hughes) Egan; his brother Thomas Egan; and his sister Susan Pealer.

He is survived by his brother Jim Egan; sisters Marilou McGovern and Ellie Toff; and his children: Miriam Dunn (TJ), Tony Egan III, Colleen Egan, Maureen Springfield (Vic), Patrick Egan (Tracy), Erin Egan, Kelley Egan, Terrance Egan (Toni), and Tara Egan.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Madeleine, William, and Ellie Harrer; Delaney and Justin Dunn; Isaiah Egan; Aleah Egan; Katie Egan; Oren Thomas; Lilly and Fionn Egan.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Anthony’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project at https://woundedwarriorproject.org
