The Yoga traditions are overflowing with sacred texts. They teach us about ourselves, relationships, the nature of the mind, the truth of the soul/Self, love, self-realization, god-realization, ultimate truth, purpose and duty in life, cosmic forces, evolution, death and rebirth, peace, liberation, freedom, consciousness, joy and unity with the divine. And more!
Gathering with beloved community to read, meditate, contemplate and share from our hearts with one another is a precious gift. We are grateful to create this new online circle.
All are warmly welcome, no previous experience required. This is a heart-centered inquiry/study circle for all practioners and students of yoga, rather than a gathering of researchers & scholars.
We will begin this April with the Śiva (Shiva) Sutras.
The Śiva Sutras are a collection of 77 profound, concise aphorisms (verses) that form the core of Kashmir Shaivism. They focus on the nature of consciousness, self-realization, and the path to inner joy/awakening. These teachings support us in recognizing and embodying the divine consciousness within all things and in all aspects of life. These teachings were revealed by the awakened ones of the Śaiva tradition, who lived in the mountains on the east side of the Valley of Kashmīr in the ninth century. The Śiva-sūtras were gathered and compiled by the great Sage Vasugupta.
