Over the past couple of weeks, our clients and team member Rachelle have been working with the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown, MD to prepare Care Boxes for schools across the region! 📦✏️📚

From sorting and labeling donations to loading up vehicles for delivery, they’ve been a huge help every step of the way. We’re so proud of the dedication and teamwork our clients showed—and Kiwanis was incredibly grateful for the support from Lasting Change this year!

Last Thursday, a few of our clients joined Rachelle at the 22nd Annual Health Fair—and they had such a great time! They visited every table, gathered tons of giveaways and resources, and enjoyed free pizza, drinks, and snacks.

Rachelle also met many new organizations and programs and Healthcare from Hagerstown even stopped by our table to thank us for attending for the first time and said they hope to see us every year!

🐾 Our team member, Rachelle and a few clients had a great time volunteering at the Humane Society of Washington County last week! They spent the afternoon cuddling, playing with, and treating every kitten there.

It was a therapeutic experience for everyone—especially the kittens, who left with full bellies and lots of love! 🐱💛

Yesterday, we spent the day volunteering with the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown, MD and helped sort 558 pairs of underwear and 428 pairs of socks for care boxes that will be distributed to schools across the county. Always feels good to give back and be part of something meaningful! 💙

Last week during group, our clients had the pleasure of hearing from Diane Verdier, Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse Prevention Specialist, who gave an incredible presentation on to***co cessation. 🚭

Diane shared the many immediate and long-term benefits of quitting smoking—like improved mood, reduced stress, anxiety, and depression—and introduced the To***co Free for Life (TTFL) Program, including virtual class options. Several clients even received free Ni****ne Replacement Therapy products to help them take that next step! 🙌

The highlight? A fun raffle with some awesome prizes and plenty of great promo items for everyone to take home. It was a powerful and uplifting group session!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to volunteer at Girls Inc. and make 203 PB&J sandwiches for the Kiwanis Club! 🥪 These sandwiches will be distributed to the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County Maryland, and other local organizations supporting youth.

This marks the first summer the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown, MD has been able to offer PB&Js—thanks to our team and clients at Lasting Change making it possible! They were incredibly grateful, and we’re proud to support such a meaningful effort. 💛

🎶 Music with Meaning at Lasting Change 🎶

We are thrilled to share some amazing feedback from our clients about the Music Therapy Program provided in partnership with The Sonatina Center! 💙

A special thank you to Emma, our talented and compassionate music therapist, whose kindness and relatability were repeatedly mentioned as one of the best parts of the program. From music bingo to inspiring discussions, it’s clear these sessions are making a difference!

Huge shoutout to our Peer Support, Rachelle, for leading a great team effort in the kitchen!

With her help, our clients worked together to prepare 4 large pans of spaghetti, 2 medium pans of green beans, and 3 large pans of garlic bread. They did an awesome job — and learned just how much food it takes to feed 100 people! 🍝

We then took the meal to It's A Blessing to be A Blessing and served over 130 people.

It was a powerful experience to give back and help others. We’re proud of everyone who made it happen! 💛❤️👏

We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July with a fun and festive cookout —hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, and baked beans, all prepared by the ladies!

Shoutout to our team member Azariah for going above and beyond that evening. She made sure all safety procedures were followed and helped everything run smoothly. Dinner was a hit thanks to her support!

Yesterday, our team member, Rachelle and several of our clients volunteered at the Paw Paw Tunnel for The Great Bicycle Tour of the C&O Canal. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ They handed out water and snacks to the dedicated bicyclists participating in the tour, helping keep everyone energized and hydrated along the way!

We’re so proud of their community spirit and teamwork! 💙🙌
