A new diabetes diagnosis can be overwhelming, and expensive.

At our clinic, a newly diagnosed diabetes patient leaves with more than just a lab result and a pamphlet. They leave with answers, with education on their condition, and our starter kit that helps them begin managing their health immediately.

The cost of that initial diabetes diagnoses, including labs, provider visit, and our kit pictured above comes to $224, not including the medications they will need monthly to treat their condition. For many of our patients, that initial visit cost alone would be an insurmountable barrier to care without access to a free clinic.

Diabetes affects a significant number of people in our region, often alongside other chronic conditions. Early, consistent care is critical to preventing serious complications.

This is what accessible care looks like: catching disease early, supporting patients from day one, and removing cost as the reason someone goes without treatment. The clinic's Chronic Disease Management Program works with those living with conditions like diabetes that require a high level of care. We provide education, support, access to free resources and medication at no cost to help our neighbors live long, healthy lives, without worrying about the financial burden of being treated.

If you live in Washington County and are currently without health insurance and would like to know more about how we can help you, give us a call today. 301-733-9234

As we close out the year, we're pausing for a moment to take stock of what this community has made possible.

Over the past year, the clinic has expanded. We cared for more patients. We filled more prescriptions. We helped more people manage chronic conditions, and we added programs to better meet the needs of our community.

While we wish there was no need for our services, and that all of our neighbors could afford the care they need to be healthy, we are so proud of our community that has made every effort to eliminate the barriers that keep people from accessing quality care. Patients are being helped every day. They're getting their blood sugar under control, they're getting their labs checked, and their mental health is being taken seriously. Our patients are being treated because our community has shown up to make sure that happens.
For everyone that donated their time and their dollars this year: Thank You.

If you're able, and would like to make a difference in the lives of our patients, you can donate here: https://app.theauxilia.com/pay/supportcommunityfreeclinic

We would like to take a minute to thank our Board of Directors.

Community Free Clinic is very lucky to have an amazing crew of people that work hard to keep us running smoothly. Our board has medical professionals, business owners, and community-minded people that donate their free time to make sure our patients, and our staff are taken care of.
You can find our board members doing every task from reviewing our impact to selling t-shirts at our Mudd Volleyball event. They understand the mission of the clinic is rooted in helping our community thrive, and they put in the work to make that happen.

We appreciate all you do for us, and all you do for the people of Washington County!
