✨We wanted to share some uplifting words from our Peer Support Specialist, Karen Hoagland, CPRS, iFPRS:

"When you work the hardened bits out, you are not left empty. Sometimes there's scar tissue that you can work on to soften. Other times, there's fresh tender tissue that feels vulnerable and you want to protect it while you adjust to it.

Either way, healing is a process. There are no set rules and each person's journey looks different. The important thing is to be open to change. Willingness to not hang onto what is/was. Maybe you feel used to it, or you're afraid of what's inside or who you'll be if you let it out. I've been around long enough to experience all 3.

You can take your time, it's okay. Just take one little step. Find someone you feel safe speaking it out to. Letting that wound/secret out into the light takes away its power, then move on. That last part is important too."
