The Washington County Health Department is aware of a scam currently happening in our area. 📞📱Calls with a recorded message claiming to be from the health department with information on a measles outbreak in a local elementary school are not coming from the actual health department. Scammers often use caller ID spoofing to make it appear that the calls are coming from a legitimate agency.

The recording claims that a student in the household has potentially been exposed to measles at their school. ➡️There are no measles outbreaks in the Washington County Public School system currently ⬅️ The health department works closely with the school health office to monitor all reported incidents of communicable diseases and utilizes the Maryland Department of Health's established guidelines in any declaration of an outbreak.

Parents and guardians should know the following:

✔ A real person from the Washington County Health Department would be in touch with the parent of a child exposed to measles.
✔ The Washington County Public School system notifies you if your child's school is experiencing an outbreak.
✔ If you receive a call like this, know that it is a scam, do not call the number back and consider reporting it to the Washington County Health Department so that we can make the community aware.

Men struggling with something that has wrecked their life can join our Recovery Program to work through their struggles and learn to rely on Christ. We do not require insurance.
