For April's Wellness Wednesday we'd like to spotlight Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) - a time for advocates, survivors, their loved ones, and the community to come together to talk openly about sexual violence to support survivors, increase knowledge and awareness, and identify strategies and resources to prevent sexual violence. Let’s all join efforts to end sexual violence in our communities. Links in comments.

🗣️Wellness Wednesday🗣️

March is Social Work Month! 💓Each year NASW has a theme for the month and this year it is: Social Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform. We want to take time to honor all Social Workers and Licensed Counselors this month for uplifting, defending and positively transforming the people you work with.

The work you do is demanding and can be stressful at times. Providing excellent care to clients also means making sure you to take care of yourself as well. What do you do to make sure you are taking care of you?? Some of the things we enjoy are doing puzzles, reading a book or going for a walk. Having that one friend/co-worker to vent to is always a plus too!

The words we use matter! Instead of using terms like "alcoholic", "clean" or "mentally ill" use phrases like "person with a substance related disorder", "in recovery" or "person living with a mental health disorder."

The Maryland Department of Health's Behavioral Health Administration created a resource on the changing language surrounding addiction and recovery. Explore terms to avoid and suggested alternatives at bit.ly/MDHWordsMatter

The Maryland Department of Health has created this content to raise awareness about the risks associated with street drugs and to promote the health and safety of Marylanders. If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis or needs support with recovery, call or text 988. For recovery resources in Frederick County visit Health.FrederickCountyMD.gov/Recovery

Frederick locations for free & accessible Naloxone!

FCHD celebrates the 10th anniversary of the FDA approving Narcan, also known as naloxone. This medication saves lives and reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. To mark the occasion, the health department and Frederick County (MD) Fire & Rescue have developed a map of all the locations around Frederick County where community members can easily get naloxone for free.

The map can be found here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1X9qoJZjdR_DtZoQOYAhCcTGvxRvLImU&ll=39.50782545016081%2C-77.47587695000001&z=10
