While everyone is searching for leprechauns this Saint Patrick's Day 🍀, here in Hawaiʻi we have our own legendary little people — the Menehune.
According to Hawaiian folklore, the Menehune are small, magical builders who live deep in the forests and valleys of the islands. They’re known for working only at night — building temples, fishponds, and roads with incredible skill. Some legends say if you ever see a Menehune at work, you must stay very quiet… because if the sun rises before they finish their project, they vanish instantly into the forest.
They’re mischievous, clever, and fiercely protective of the land they call home. And while they may be tiny, their craftsmanship and strength are said to be legendary.
So this St. Patrick’s Day, while others look for leprechauns and pots of gold, we like to imagine the Menehune quietly working under the moonlight — keeping the magic of the islands alive. 🌺🍀
Who knows… maybe they’re still out there.
