🎓Senior Spotlight🌟
Congratulations to Asher Knowles, one of our PeakFit super amazing teen athletes. 💪🏽 aka has spent his high school years completely transforming his body. Asher, born with a rare condition called TAR, missing his radius bones and living with low platelets, started lifting weights at PeakFit just after his Freshman year. He played tennis 🎾 and swam 🏊‍♂️ for Wood River HS, but it really was the gym that transformed his physique. Asher was so motivated and made such a massive physique change that he even completed in two bodybuilding competitions right before graduation. Wow. So inspiring!
Asher will be attending GCU in Phoenix, swimming competitively with the Swim Club and will be in the Voice Performance program.
Congrats Asher, we are SO proud of you!

Received a some DMs about heart rate based training - -

First question: what is your goal?

Fat burn? Aerobic capacity? Vo2 max? Or just a plain ol’ warm up target zone?

Second: figure out max heart rate
The math: 220 minus a persons age gets you max hr
Ex: 35 year old male, 185 max hr

Third: take your max heart rate times the percentage that lines up with your goal
Ex: fat burn zone, 185 x .65 = 120 bpm
Ex: aerobic capacity, 185 x .75 = 139 bpm

Fourth: lock in and CRUSH IT! 💪🏻

Incorporate a slant board into your routine for healthier and stronger knees!

When we lift our heel (with support) we can safely strengthen the knee and supporting tendons. The slant board is a great tool because the whole foot is supported and you can add various offset and lunge work.

We took a sample kettlebell class from and it was GREAT! Challenging for the heart, lungs, and muscles 💪🏻

First video is the Sample routine, all moves are single sided:
Swings x5
Cleans x5
High Pulls x5
Sn**ch x5
Clean and Press x5
Squat x5

**the first video is a whole round of 4s after doing 5s, a person can and should work down to 1 rep and work back up to 5**

who doesn’t love GRANOLA? 🥣

typically the granola you buy from the store is either:
1. wayyyy too expensive with good quality and healthy ingredients
or
2. it has an eye catching label but when you read the ingredients and macros, it’s not healthy at all.

Here is a good and EASY homemade option we want to share with you all.

🤎EMILY’S PROTEIN GRANOLA 🤎
3 cups oats
1 cup optional any seeds or nuts
1/2 cup vanilla or unflavored whey protein powder
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup almond butter
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt

Bake on a cookie sheet pan lined with parchment paper at 300 degrees for 40-45 min. (NO need to stir halfway through baking.)

How do we like our granola?
- on it’s own, just munch it!
- in a bowl with almond or other nut milk
- in a bowl with greek yogurt for an EXTRA protein punch! 👊
