Goals are important, but without healthy systems and habits it will be difficult to achieve those goals.

What habits are you building this year?

This is a great visual to share with teenagers who struggle with anxiety.

Last week I shared a post about the importance of discerning between the things in your life that you can control and the things that you can’t control.
I have found that the ability to do this has been a game changer for me personally - it has enabled me to focus on what’s relevant and that I can have influence over and to let go of the things that I can’t control.
I’ve noticed this ability has created a significant shift in the amount of anxiety, resentment, worry and anger I carry in my life.

Today I found this great graphic for kids from helping them understand the ‘controllables’!

From my post last week:

One of the key learnings when we explore the Heroic Habit of Acceptance with students is helping them to understand what is in their control and what’s not in their control.
An acceptance of this reality is shown to relieve anxiety and increases empowerment - two things which contribute to a more fulfilling life.

We’re reminded of this in The Serenity Prayer, written in the 1800's by Reinhold Neibuhr.
“God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
the courage to change the things we can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.”
