You’ve probably been told to “do your Kegels” to get ready for birth…

But here’s the thing, Kegels alone don’t prepare your pelvic floor for what actually happens during labor.

Your pelvic floor needs to relax, lengthen, and coordinate with your breath, not just squeeze on command.

If those muscles are too tense, pushing can become harder and less effective.

It’s funny how many of my clients come in saying, “I think my pelvic floor is weak…”
But guess what? 👀

It’s often the opposite!

A tight or overactive pelvic floor can mimic all the same symptoms as a weak one with symptoms such as leaking, pain, pressure, even difficulty peeing.

When your muscles stay “on” all the time, they can’t do their job effectively.

That’s why not everyone needs Kegels and in fact, sometimes, you need to learn how to let go. The real solution might actually be learning to relax and restore coordination.
