Wow, what an amazing first weekend of The Bike Hut Classic 2025! There was so much buzz and excitement around The Bike Hut. We saw big groups, small groups, some who were out to set a PR, others in it for fun or to ride in support of Abundant Grace Coastside Worker and our workforce programs for the homeless.
There are already impressive stats for the ride, and I'll be making similar posts over the next couple of weeks to keep folks up to date. Be sure to make your Strava time public for the “Official Bike Hut Classic” segment so that we can view your results. A few highlights so far...
IMPRESSIVE TIMES:
Posting a very competitive time for Men 50 - 59 was Chris Kurrle, blazing to the top of Tunitas in 33:01! Other leading times include Matthew Younkins (“Matthew !”, 33:11) for Men 40 - 49; Michael Crager (42:05) for Men 60 - 69; and Fred Stamm (53:05) for Men 70 - 79!
The ladies were also bringing the heat for this kickoff weekend; Karen Brems is back again this year, setting the bar high for Women 60 - 69 with her time of 43:43! Madeleine Flint (46:09) leads Women 40 - 49, and Sarah Boucher (46:51) is out on top for Women 20 - 29.
In summary, we've kicked off the ride with some absolutely awesome times to set the tone of the 2025 ride!
IMPRESSIVE FUNDRAISING:
We've challenged you all to fundraise for Abundant Grace Coastside Worker, and two riders in particular are answering the call: Sean Johnston is the current Top Individual Fundraiser with $4100, while Peter Heller (Allez! Allez! Allez!) has surpassed his previous years of fundraising, bringing in $3050!
For one of the smaller clubs, Team Sheeper Triathlon is, yet again, the highest club or group fundraiser so far, raising $7850! Alto Velo Racing Team has also brought in a considerable and generous amount at $5300, and other clubs are making efforts as well: Geezi ($2325), KMCC ($1950), Western Wheelers Bicycle Club ($1650), Peninsula Velo ($1550), ACTC ($1125), and Menlo Bike Club ($825), among others. These group fundraiser amounts don't account for the funds brought in by registrations, and those will be tallied before we award the highest fundraising group. All proceeds go to Abundant Grace's workforce programs for the homeless, several of which take place on the farm behind The Bike Hut!
This is an incredible effort all around, and we are blown away again this year by everyone's participation! Thank you all so much!
Registrants have until July 20 to ride as many times as they would like. Register at www.bikehutclassic.com.
