ABA therapy is often thought of as one-to-one teaching, where a child works with one behavior technician. For some learners, this is the best arrangement in order to promote learning. As children build more advanced skills and approach school-age, it becomes important to incorporate opportunities to learn in a group setting.
Over the past months, some of our learners have been participating in a mock-classroom for part of their session. During this, they learned to rotate through math, literacy, and visual-perceptual learning stations and work independently at each station.
Now, the group is learning to attend to group lessons. The goal is to teach each child a new concept through different modalities including instruction at the table, hands on activities, and games. As you can see in the photos, these children and engaged and ready to learn the skills necessary to succeed in future settings.
