I saw my acupuncturist the other day for my annual spring tune up. It's spring time, and it's the energetic season of wood/wind. She reminded me of something important—self-censoring and second-guessing myself is self imposed stagnation. In Chinese Medicine, we talk about it being metal overcoming wood. It’s like having the sails set but hesitating to lean into the wind and missing the momentum that’s already there.
It's traditional to treat wood energy through the liver meridians at this time of year. However, she didn't just soothe and calm my liver qi- she threw open the sails and let the full force of the season surge through. For me, the change was immediate—like catching a strong gust at just the right angle, that moment when resistance drops away, and you surge forward, driven by something bigger than yourself. I jumped off the table full of energy and determination, with the drive to put the wind in all my patient's sails too!
Spring is most assuredly not a time for half-hearted measures. It’s the season to embrace momentum, to take bold action, to lean in and let the energy of renewal push you forward. Most limits? They’re like ropes you forgot you could untie.
The Liver, in all its springtime glory, is meant to move—like a vessel cutting through open water, powered by clarity, vision, and the pure exhilaration of momentum. If yours is stuck—wrapped in frustration, hesitation, or exhaustion—it’s time to shake it loose.
Consider this your invitation to a Spring Cleaning Session—a seasonal acupuncture tune-up designed to clear stagnation, open the channels, and help you catch the wind that’s already waiting for you.
