Doctors Are Not Free Helplines
We give free consultations.
We write free prescriptions.
We explain lab reports at 11 p.m.
We answer medical questions during birthdays, weddings, even funerals.
Why?
Because we care.
Because we took an oath.
Because we were taught that healing is noble.
But what do we hear in return?
“Why are you talking about money?”
“This is a noble profession.”
“You should serve humanity, not charge for it.”
Meanwhile, in every other profession, value is clear:
• Lawyers charge consultation fees — even for phone calls.
• CAs charge for a signature.
• Architects charge for drawings.
• Therapists charge per session — no exceptions.
• IT consultants won’t fix software for free.
• Tutors don’t teach “like family” without payment.
But doctors?
We’re expected to diagnose over WhatsApp.
To give life-altering advice in a two-minute call.
To never mention fees — because it’s “just service.”
But what we provide isn’t “just information.”
It’s insight.
It’s not Google — it’s wisdom forged through years of study, sleepless nights, and sacrifice.
This mindset must change.
Because if medical care keeps being measured only in money, not in respect, one day we may hang up our white coats.
And the world will face what it chose:
A system where care is expected — but never valued.
