At Animal Hospital of Hallandale, we don’t just treat pets—we negotiate with cats, bribe dogs with treats, and occasionally get judged by parrots. 🐶🐱

Our patients can’t say “thank you,” but they show it with wagging tails, loud purrs, and the occasional attempt to escape the exam room.

Our Story

We pamper pets - We are your family vet !

Dr. Joe Barbosa is a veterinarian who acquired the Animal Hospital of Hallandale in 1993 from Dr. Ward.

Dr. Barbosa received his veterinary degree from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1980. In 1987, he took the intensive post-graduate course in Clinical Veterinary Medicine at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. In 1990 he became licensed to practice in the state of Florida.

Through the years, as a general practitioner, Dr. Barbosa has attended hundreds of continuing education courses and seminars including advanced dentistry, laser surgery, orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. He speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish. He and his staff welcome new and current clients with a friendly smile and excellent service (in 6 different languages) and look forward to serving your pet's health care needs.
