We decided squeeze in a little more summer fun to the year! Our activities department took some of our residents to Chestnut Ridge park to enjoy a picnic in the casino and get some great views of our city! The residents had a great time reminiscing… one even said she had her first date with her husband tobogganing back in the day! They also enjoyed people watching…of course, checking out the new stadium, and enjoyed the fresh air.

As we settle into the last official weekend of summer let’s take a look back at our 12th annual car show! We are so grateful that so many people were still able to come out to support our residents as we had to reschedule due to weather! We want to thank all our of the businesses that donated to our show and to all the drivers who took time out of their day to bring there lovely classics to be shown off. We hope to see everyone again next year!

As the best 12 days of summer have come to a close let’s look back at opening day when our activities department took a few residents for a fun filled day.
A couple ladies stayed back to shop as most wanted to take a tram ride around to visit the animals! Of course everyone got their fair food of choice for lunch but were far too busy to stop for pictures of everyone’s meals and enjoyed some music from the band nearby. Everyone had a great day and ready for a nap by the end of it! 🎡🎠🎟️☀️

Today we celebrated and honored one of our lovely ladies turning 100! We had a wonderful little coffee hour, sang happy birthday, and read a little about Marie’s life and what she has accomplished over the years. Her two daughters also were able to attend. Earlier this week Marie was welcomed into the Century Club by Senior Wishes and received a certificate and a few little gifts.
Happy Birthday Marie we hope you had a fabulous day and we are so glad you are apart of The Courtyards family ❤️🎂🥳🎊🎁🎉

This past week the activities department took a few of our baseball loving residents to a Bisons Game! Thankfully after only a slight rain delay the sun came out in full force! We even had a few family members stop by to enjoy the game with us❤️. Although the Bisons didn’t win…. Beef on Weck won the race!

This past Thursday night our Activities department accompanied Dennis to a Senior Wishes event where he was one of the VIPs. Back in November Dennis was nominated to receive a Veterans Hero box through Senior Wishes. Dennis is a Vietnam vet who has received many awards through his years of service as well as being a Purple Heart recipient. Dennis was brought to tears to know that people would think to nominate him for something like this, unfortunately it took a long time for people to recognize him for his service. Upon Dennis’ return home from the war he we was not treated the best by many due to his time he served in Vietnam. His daughter Lora also accompanied him for the evening and they had a wonderful time sampling different foods and drinks from all the local places that came out to support this amazing organization! We would like to thank Senior Wishes and Wendy for coming into The Courtyards family they are an amazing group of people to work with. If you know a senior that has a wish please check out Senior Wishes website for their guidelines and application.
