We’re Yoga4Every1, based in Buffalo, NY. We create custom yoga experiences for people of all ages and all abilities.*

Yoga helps children develop:
→ Social Skills: One-on-one in-home yoga lessons can help children learn to interact with others in a low-stakes environment, and can improve social skills like cooperation and communication.
→ Sensory Integration: Yoga involves mindful awareness of the body and surroundings, which can help children develop an improved sense of their own physical boundaries and integrate sensory information more effectively.
→ Enhanced Motor Skills and Coordination: Yoga poses improve balance, coordination, and strength, which can be challenging for some children with autism or ADHD. Practicing in a comfortable, familiar space reduces sensory distractions, allowing them to focus on the content of the lesson.
→ Stress Reduction and Emotional Regulation: Breathing exercises and gentle stretches promote relaxation, which can help children manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelming sensory input. A regular yoga practice can also improve emotional regulation, helping them to process emotions more effectively.
→ Improved Focus and Attention: Yoga teaches children to concentrate on their movement and their breathing, which can gradually improve their focus and attention span in other areas of life.
→ Self-Confidence and Independence: Successfully mastering poses and routines can boost a child’s confidence and foster a sense of independence. Practicing at home with one-on-one attention allows them to progress at their own pace. What is SEL? SEL stands for Social and Emotional Learning. It’s an educational approach that seeks to develop the skills necessary for children’s social and emotional wellbeing. SEL focuses on five key areas:
→ Self-Awareness: The ability to recognize and understand one's own emotions, thoughts, and values, and how they affect behavior
→ Self-Management: The ability to regulate emotions and behaviors to achieve goals
→ Social Awareness: The ability to understand what others are feeling and take their perspective
→ Relationship Skills: The ability to communicate clearly, work well with others, and settle conflicts
→ Responsible Decision-Making: The ability to make thoughtful choices with regard to potential outcomes and how they affect others

Our workshops integrate yoga and social-emotional learning (SEL) by combining movement, mindfulness, and interactive small and large group activities. Activities utilize focus, teamwork, and responsible decision-making and promote skills like self-awareness, emotional regulation, and empathy. These workshops provide a supportive environment where students can build confidence, reduce stress, and develop essential SEL skills to enhance their overall well-being in school and beyond. Gate pose? More like great pose! ⭐️ I love how yoga and movement act as a messenger.

When we return to that mat and quiet our minds, the reminders start to come. Reminding us of what we’re capable of.

Stretching reminds us that taking up space feels good. Stillness reminds us that it’s all happening right here, right now.

💧 Did you know that spending time near a body of water can have a regulating effect on our bodies and minds? Simply gazing at the river, lake, or ocean can help reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function.

💧 Specifically, proximity to water has been demonstrated to decrease cortisol, lower blood pressure, and even reduce muscle tension.

💧 Now combine that with the similarly stress-reducing aspects of yoga, and you have one seriously peaceful practice. 🤍☁️

It’s officially yoga-on-the-porch season in Western New York! During these warmer months, I love to take the practice outside as often as possible for those clients who enjoy it.

Spending time in nature is deeply regulating to the nervous system. And as all of my fellow Buffalonians know, days like this are truly precious, so why not make the most of them?! 😍

Supported supine bound angle pose has got to be one of the most relaxing asanas of all time. (Also pictured is child’s pose to counter all that openness and extension with some spinal flexion.) 🦋

I LOVE being welcomed somewhere as sacred & intimate as a family’s home and bringing some peace and relaxation into their hectic day. It means everything to me. My hope always is that this peace can last beyond our hour together and permeate my clients’ lives off of the mat.

Hi loves 🤍 For the past 7 months now, my work has been focused on providing private in-home yoga to children with autism. My current students range from as young as 5, to as old as 14.

It has been the most rewarding work I could have ever dreamt of. I have been blessed with the most amazing experiences with these kids and their loving, dedicated families. Every single week, I look forward to the hour that I get to spend with each of my students.

At this point, I have witnessed some transformations within these yogis that, simply put, blow my mind. That make me feel so honored to do this work with them. That give me glimpses of pure divine love.

Let me emphasize: there is nothing that is wrong or needs to be fixed about having autism. But equipping oneself with the tools to support healthy self-regulation… that is EMPOWERING.

I’m just feeling really grateful. 🤍🤍 love to all

📣 Time for a SELebration! And what better time than International 🥳

You may have even noticed the name change already… 👀

Introducing my brainchild, YogaSEL! 🧠🌱

The transition from Little Light Yoga to YogaSEL better reflects the precise work that I have been up to with my clients.

So… what is it?

YogaSEL (think “carousel”🎠😆) is my signature framework for utilizing the practice of yoga to teach Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) principles in schools and in homes.

➡️ The 5 areas of SEL are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, and we address ALL 5 of them while stretching & strengthening our bodies in 1 hour of fun!

As an elementary school teacher, I witnessed alarming gaps in the social and emotional skills of children. There is currently a dire need for high-quality SEL programming and instruction.

But TEACHERS ALREADY DO SO MUCH! Trust me— I know! So, this puts the onus on the parents… but…

PARENTS ALREADY DO SO MUCH!

I know everyone is very tired.

…so that’s where I come in! 🤸🏻💗😄✨

Sometimes thinking and talking only gets you so far, and you just need to M O V E .

➡️ Currently, I work with both individuals and groups teaching embodied SEL through yoga. If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, let me know! I have experience working with neurodiverse students and I am trauma-informed-certified.

Ultimately, my intention with this is to consolidate what I have been teaching to my private clients into a course that can be accessed by parents for use in their own homes. Stay tuned 🤩

some children’s art inspiration I’ve been collecting lately ⭐️🎨💗🌈 I firmly believe that art is an INEXTRICABLE component of SEL!!! & I often incorporate visual art activities into my children & teens yoga classes.

The most valuable art-making experiences for children’s development are:
❤️ open-ended
🧡 child-directed
💛 process-focused (rather than product-focused)
💚 not rushed
💙 soothing to the nervous system
💜 FUN!!!

The above examples feature varying degrees of structure vs. open-endedness— invoke a variety in your own teaching to explore the balance that best serves your students! 🤩
