We were honored to host so many volunteers who came to place wreaths on the graves of military veterans in our Field of Valor as part of Wreaths Across America Day. A wonderful tribute to those who sacrificed so much for our freedom!

It's not too late to honor your departed loved ones during this holiday season with a special floral tribute, which will be placed at the grave or crypt. Choose from a holiday wreath (pictured here) for a graveside tribute, or a silk red poinsettia plant or single-stem silk red poinsettia for placement in one of our mausoleums.

Be sure to order before Monday, December 18th to ensure placement before Christmas.

On Saturday, December 16 at noon, volunteers from across WNY will gather at Lakeside Cemetery to lay wreaths at the graves of U.S. military veterans in the Field of Valor section at each cemetery. It’s all part of a national program called Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine wreath maker Morrill Worcester in 1992.

The organization’s yearlong mission – REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those that serve, TEACH the next generation the value of freedom – is carried out, in part, each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at thousands of participating locations in all 50 states and beyond.

We encourage all who are interested to attend to show your support and to pitch in with the wreath placement. It’s a wonderful way to REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those who serve and TEACH the next generation the value of freedom!

It’s hard to believe but today is October 1. Among other things, that means Lakeside Cemetery's fall/winter gate and mausoleum hours are now in effect, closing two hours earlier than they did in the spring/summer.

From October 1 through March 31:
• The gates of Lakeside will be open daily from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm
• The doors of the Lakeside mausoleums will be open daily from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm

Please keep that in mind as you plan your visit here.

Please note that in an effort to locate and repair a water leak on the grounds of Lakeside Cemetery, our Grounds team has temporarily shut off the water supply in the cemetery and is doing excavation work in some areas where the water lines run. Because they know exactly where those lines are located, they are able to avoid disturbing any gravesites in the process.

As soon as the leak has been located and repaired, we will be able to turn the water supply back on for use by our visitors.

Thank you for your patience while we resolve this issue.

Happy Father's Day to all those special men in our lives - those who we've lost and those we're blessed to have with us.
