"I graduated from D'Youville in 1997 with a master's degree in occupational therapy. After graduation, I moved to Phoenix Arizona where I worked in a school district for 16 years. I gained more experience in early intervention by working in both home-based and clinical settings. I moved back to Buffalo in 2013 to be closer to my family. Since moving back I have continued my love for working in pediatrics, and have continued to work in community settings, schools and UPK programs. I have extensive training working with children with ASD and sensory difficulties as well as experience working with a variety of diagnosis. When not working, I enjoy catching up on a good thriller book, traveling to warm destinations, and spending time with family!"

This work is about making sure children receive timely, essential services while also supporting providers through the long-awaited rate increase discussion. Strong providers mean stronger services for kids and families. 💙

Beyond Boundaries' own Mary Fran (👏🏼🤗) was proud to join an energized group of 42 individuals including Early Intervention service providers, parents, pediatric residents, and dedicated supporters for ✨Advocacy Day✨ with Liftoff WNY in Albany on February 10. Together, they met with Assembly members and State Senators to advocate for key agenda items critical to strengthening the Early Intervention program and ensuring children 👧👦 and families receive the supports they need to thrive.

Beyond Boundaries is grateful to stand alongside so many passionate advocates working to support young children and their families across New York State.

Meeting, meeting, and yes… more meetings 😊

This month we stayed cozy in our houses and leaned into learning together. Our amazing team participated in three team learning events, diving into:

We’re so thankful to the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education for spending time with our team and helping us think more intentionally about how we use Motivational Interviewing in our work with parents, caregivers, and educators.

Caregivers know their children best and are at the heart of the work we do. We’re especially grateful to Melanie Sage and Todd Sage from the UB School of Social Work for sharing thoughtful, practical ideas that help us keep caregivers at the center of our support and strengthen meaningful partnerships that honor each family’s strengths.

"Amanda graduated from UB in 2018 with her degree in occupational therapy. After graduation, she moved to South Carolina. There, she gained experience in pediatrics, working in sensory-based clinic and home-based settings. She also met her husband - and when she became pregnant, moved back to Buffalo to be closer to family. Since moving back, Amanda has also worked with older adults, which has enriched her OT career further. She and her husband have also had another child. Amanda loves working with and empowering kiddos and their families. She has extensive experience and training with sensory difficulties, feeding, attachment, and has worked with a variety of high-needs diagnoses. Being a mother has further solidified her love for working with children, and her wanting to help every child reach their full potential."
