Due Date or Nah?

A prediction of when a baby will most likely come or not arrive at the scheduled time.

I mean really, who came up with this?

Due dates are Calculated using Naegele’s Rule (add 7 days to the first day of your last period, then add 9 months), due dates are calculated assuming a 28-day cycle and ovulating on the 14th day. Many inaccuracies are included in this methodology. This guideline was created in the early 1800s by a German doctor and was not based on any serious scientific testing. A 1990 study by Mittendorf found that a pregnancy in first-time mothers lasted on average eight days longer than the 40-week rule.

Perhaps we’re not even applying the approach appropriately because the professors who designed it never indicated whether the 7 days should be added to the first or last day.

Many medical experts begin counting on the first day of the previous menstrual period. However, let’s keep in mind that periods are not all the same and it depends on how lengthy your cycle is, it could be a week or two before you conceive. The fertile period of the cycle can also differ by a few days. Now I know you have some women that make get know the exact date of conception, pregnancy length fluctuates.

In truth, only about 5% of babies are delivered on their due dates, and a typical pregnancy lasts 41+5 weeks.

Why do we make mothers believe their bodies aren’t functioning properly?

Environmental stress during the third trimester of pregnancy might result in an unnecessarily protracted pregnancy, causing a cascade of emotions to go through the body. Maybe we should simply let nature take its course and allow the little one to come into the world when he or she is good and ready, as long as they are healthy and ready.

Did you deliver on your due date?

Feeling nervous about childbirth?

Worried about bringing your baby into the world? You are not alone. Prior to giving birth, some anxiety is completely normal, and the majority of expectant mothers do occasionally worry about giving birth for a variety of reasons. To help you relax, consider the following variables and facts.

Fear of not making it to the hospital on time.

First-time mothers typically go through 20 hours of labor, while second-time mothers go through eight hours on average.
One recommendation is to time how long it takes to travel between your home and the location of your birth.

(Fear of pooping, while pushing)

My dear you are the only one in the delivery room with this worried. The labor and delivery nurses will quickly get rid of any poop-by-way-of-pushing before you know it even happened as they are use to it.

The reason:
When a baby’s head is ready to exit, you have to rely on many muscles to get him out including the muscles in your re**um. Since stool tends to be in the re**um at any given time of day, some will likely come out when you’re pushing.

Fear of the epidural needle:

Although some women report feeling brief pain when the epidural is administered, many others don't feel a thing.
Also keep in mind that you have a variety of different choices for reducing labor pain.

Fear of an episiotomy or tearing?

The perineum, a tissue located between the va**na and the a**s that is cut during an episiotomy to make more room for the baby. Although it used to be standard procedure, nowadays the majority of obstetricians let the va**nal tissue tear naturally if it even occurs.

If you're still concerned, ask your health care provider about their opinion on perineal massage in the weeks before your due date. This will help to gently stretch your perineum, which is the region between your va**na and re**um, and lower your risk of va**nal tears or an episiotomy during birth.

The best time to write a birth plan is right now so you can think through how you would want your birth to go and have a plan. It won't be long till the big day arrives!
