Had a great time visiting The Seeing Eye with 25 patients and friends yesterday. Learned how seeing eye dogs are picked out and trained. Also all the intense training that the human has to go through with his dog to act as one, navigating in their darkness. A wonderful institution which charges a maximum of $150 for an intense 3 week course while at The Seeing Eye, with everything provided for them, as well as lifetime support. A truly wonderful, caring, and one of a kind institution devoted to providing independence to the blind and visually impaired people. Lunch at Friendly's put a topper on a wonderful excursion. Look forward to our next outing in the spring.

So sorry to hear about Dr. Kessel's misfortune over an unfortunate comment. These days of hair trigger events following inappropriate comments makes us be extra careful with what we say. I'm sure this was a misunderstanding or off handed comment said out of frustration. Knowing Dr. Kessel as a kind and compassionate person and physician is truly atypical for the person I know. I truly hope he comes through this unfortunate event in the good stead he was before it ever occurred, and I'm sure will be more careful with comments in the future. Everyone makes a mistake, but this error in judgement should not taint the good reputation Dr. Kessel has earned for the service he has provided our patients for so many years.

One has to be careful what we say in this politically correct and hair trigger society, where kidding comments can lead to unfortunate consequences. I truly hope Dr. Kessel is OK after this event, as he is a kind and caring person and physician which this world needs more of.
