The holidays are quickly approaching, and Allies is once again asking for help in filling the holidays with magic for the individuals we serve throughout New Jersey. You can help to make this effort a success by taking part in Allies’ annual “Share the Joy” initiative.

Last year, “Share the Joy” delivered nearly 700 gifts to children and adults with special needs throughout the state.

Love is in the air at Allies today! Our friends at the Flemington Day Program worked with our Project Grow team to create beautiful Valentine’s Day cards and potpourri gifts, which were delivered to the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington. Mercer Day Program participants also got in on the fun by making lovely cards and artwork to share with the staff at Allies’ administrative office. Everyone was touched by their creativity, thoughtfulness, and kind hearts! Thanks for sharing your love with us!

We are excited to watch this fund grow so that we can support individuals with IDD in:
• Nurturing hobbies that keep their minds and bodies stimulated, hearts happy, and spirit elevated
• Pursuing new activities and experiences that they’ve always wanted to try
• Developing relationships with people who share similar interests
• Becoming active and engaged members of their community

Allies was pleased to honor the second graduating class of the New Horizons Essential Managerial Skills Program at a ceremony at the administrative office on February 10th. Eighteen managers were recognized for their successful completion of the program, which aims to provide Allies’ managers with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively work with Community Support Staff (CSS). The program also supports managers in developing facilitative and influential relationships with these staff members; and promotes their competency in teaching and guiding community support staff in their roles.

Allies is pleased to announce that the agency has earned approval to deliver short and long-term Supported Employment Services in two states – New Jersey and Delaware.

Luke J. Washack, Sr. Director of Vocational Services, remarked, “Expanding our vocational rehabilitation services across two states is a very special milestone for Allies. By extending our reach, we will be able to improve and enrich the lives of more individuals with special needs and help them reach their employment goals. I’m extremely proud of our various departments for collaborating and working hard to make this achievement possible.”

The Allies family would like to congratulate our agency’s Controller, Slavik Sergeenko, MBA, CMA, on his recent achievement of earning an MBA in Accounting from La Salle University in Philadelphia. In his role as Controller, Slavik leads the accounting and payroll department and oversees financial operations.

Slavik shared, “I’d like to express my gratitude and appreciation to Allies’ Leadership Team, our President and CEO Mike Haggerty, and our Chief Financial Officer, Rick Manall, who is my direct supervisor and mentor at Allies. I am truly grateful for all their support of my personal career goals, as well as for instituting the Tuition Assistance Program to help further employees’ professional development.”

Allies is proud to recognize Black History Month! Since 1976, our country has dedicated this month to celebrating the tremendous contributions that African Americans have made throughout history.

It’s a time to pay tribute to their leadership, creativity, and strength. It’s also a time to reflect on their optimism and determination to make positive changes in our society, and the work they’ve done to promote inclusivity and equity.

We thank the many men and women who have influenced and shaped our culture through their ideas, words and actions. Their lives and work serve as an inspiration to all of us.

Participants at our Mercer Day Program and snowflakes have something in common - they are each unique and different in their own beautiful way! Our friends at the program recently created a delightful collection of snowflake artwork. Their paintings featured snowflakes in various shapes and patterns, whimsical swirls, and quotes about winter that warmed our hearts. One quote by writer Kahlil Gibran read, “Kindness is like snow – it beautifies everything it covers.” Thank you for sharing your lovely artwork with us Mercer Day, it was certainly kind of you and it brightened our winter day!
