From urgent care to specialty clinics, our team is dedicated to your well-being. When Bitterroot Health opened its doors on July 1, 1931, healthcare in Ravalli County changed forever. Margaret Daly built the hospital in memory of her late husband, copper king Marcus, who was a founding father of our community. Her visionary philanthropy ensured that thousands of Ravalli County residents and guests would receive excellent, close-to-home care in their times of need. The original three story brick building that housed the hospital is now a registered historical landmark in Hamilton. A new facility was constructed in 1975 and continues to expand to match the needs of our community. Bitterroot Health is a rural, nonprofit, community hospital. It is governed by a community board of directors. Reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid cover only part of the actual costs of care. Despite these challenges, our first priority is to provide quality care to our community by trained caregivers who love the scenic place where they live and provide the highest levels of care using the most advanced equipment available to us. More than 500 dedicated healthcare professionals work at MDMH, making it the largest employer in the county, and they spend every day assisting neighbors, friends, and family members with health management. From basic family care to birthing, emergency services, surgery, rehabilitation, hospice care, and a new ICU center - families are helped through their greatest health challenges in a neighborly environment close to home. A beautiful hospice center is also on our campus, providing compassionate care both in home and at our facility.

Appointments are especially helpful for:
• Patients needing labs before a follow-up visit
• Those with recurring or standing lab orders

Born on April 1st… but this moment is no joke 💙

There’s something special about the first time a family meets their baby. The quiet, the emotion, the overwhelming sense of love, and on this day, just a little extra reason to smile.

Our Birthing Center team had the honor of walking alongside this family as they welcomed their newest addition into the world. Moments like these are why we do what we do.

We had some very special visitors join us for Doctor’s Day 💙

A huge thank you to Bitter Root Humane Association for bringing their amazing dogs to Bitterroot Health. Taking a few moments to step outside, slow down, and spend time with these animals brought a lot of smiles to our providers and staff.

In the middle of busy days caring for our community, these small moments make a big difference.

We’re grateful for partnerships like this that support not just our patients, but our team as well 🐾

We are incredibly grateful to receive support from the Power of Change program through Ravalli Electric Co-op for our Hospice team.

For many years, our annual Tree of Lights service has provided a meaningful space for families to remember and honor loved ones. Now, with the help of this generous grant, we are creating a new tradition.

Beginning in the summer of 2026, Bitterroot Health Hospice will host a Community Memorial Service in partnership with Sapphire Lutheran Homes. This gathering will offer a peaceful and welcoming space for remembrance, healing, and connection.

This support will help provide meaningful experiences for those attending, including biodegradable memorial balloon releases, remembrance flowers, and grief resources for individuals and families navigating loss.

We are honored to continue supporting our community in this way and thankful to the Power of Change program for helping make these moments possible.
