On September 10, 2025, our hearts were broken as we said goodbye to Billy Ross Stidham , who passed away at his residence in Hackleburg, Alabama, surrounded by his family. Born on Valentine's Day in 1948, Billy's life was a gift to everyone who knew him.
Billy was the kind of man could do just about anything. A farmer, carpenter, and a jack of all trades, he found joy in working with his hands and spending time outdoors. Whether he was in his sawmill, tending his bees, making sorghum syrup, or heading out hunting or fishing, he lived close to the land and made the most of every day.
What set Billy apart, though, wasn't just his skills-it was his heart. Loyal, honest, and hardworking, he was the neighbor you could always count on and the friend who never hesitated to lend a hand. He lived simply but gave richly, with his time, his talents, and his love. Above all, Billy treasured his family. He leaves behind his daughter, Tina Yarber, his son, Chad Stidham and wife Amanda; his grandchildren, Cody Yarber and wife Brittney, Hannah Langston and husband Zach, and Keslie Stidham, and his great-grandchildren, Becca, Jon Ross, Reed, Easton, Landrey and Millie, who will grow up hearing stories of the man who loved them deeply. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Verlon Stidham and Hilda Stidham; his brother-in-law, Mike Hughes; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who became family.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Gladys Stidham; his brothers, J.R. Stidham and Jimmy Stidham, his sisters, Eva Nichols and Pam Hughes, brother-in-law, James Nichols and his loving wife, Becky Stidham.
While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the countless memories he leaves behind-of laughter, hard work, and life well lived.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hackleburg, Alabama.
The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 1:00 p.m. , with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m.
