Uncover The Restorative Healing Power of Earthing and 'Barefoot Walking' By connecting to the continuous stream of beneficial electrons from the Earth's surface. This connection supports your body's natural healing and regenerative processes, promoting optimal health and wellness, during your daily....

Every cell in our body is a universe in itself—constantly regenerating, communicating, and responding to what we consume. What if we approached food not just as sustenance but as sacred energy? Each meal is an opportunity to choose vitality, to fuel the body in a way that supports healing, balance, and longevity.

Ancient wisdom has long taught that food is medicine. The vibrant colors of fruits and vegetables are not just aesthetically pleasing—they are signals from nature, filled with the nutrients we need to thrive. Yet, modern convenience often disconnects us from this knowledge. The more we return to whole, living foods, the more we align ourselves with the intelligence of nature.

What would happen if we became more mindful of what we put into our bodies—not from a place of restriction, but from a place of love? How do you cultivate a relationship with food that nourishes not just your body but your soul? Share your thoughts. 🍏✨

Cheap Eggs Come at a Cost: The Hidden Consequences of Buying Low-Priced Eggs 🥚

When it comes to choosing eggs, poultry, or meat, not all labels are created equal! If you’re looking for the best in terms of animal welfare, nutrition, and environmental impact, pasture-raised is the way to go. Here’s why:

🐣Better for the Animals: Pasture-raised animals spend most of their time outdoors, roaming freely and grazing on natural grass. This means they live happier, more natural lives compared to those in cages or confined barns. 🐄🌾

🐣Healthier for You: Studies show that pasture-raised products have higher levels of omega-3s, vitamins, and antioxidants. They’re also free of the toxic chemicals, hormones, and antibiotics commonly found in factory farming. 🥚💪

🐣Kinder to the Planet: Raising animals on pasture supports biodiversity and promotes healthier soil. Plus, it’s a more sustainable way to farm, reducing the environmental footprint of your food choices. 🌍🌿

What’s the difference between pasture-raised, free-range, cage-free, and organic food labels?

🐔 Pasture-Raised: Animals spend most of their time outdoors, grazing on natural pasture. This is the most humane and natural way to raise livestock. 🐄

🐔 Free-Range: Animals have access to the outdoors (usually a small door that most of them can’t find) but still spend most time indoors. They aren’t confined to cages, but are usually a in inhumane, crowded, very stressful conditions.

🐔 Cage-Free: Animals aren’t kept in cages, but they’re still housed indoors, often in large barns. They have more space to move, but no outdoor access is guaranteed. Conditions are crowded and stressful. Animals get injured fighting each other in such crowded conditions. 🚪🐓

🐔 Organic: Focused more on feed and farming methods, organic animals are raised without synthetic pesticides, hormones, or antibiotics. They must also have access to the outdoors, but the conditions vary, and many of them are confined to spending most of their time indoors in crowded conditions.

This post briefly explains the distinctions while engaging readers to think about their food choices.

When you choose pasture-raised, you’re making a conscious decision for your health, animal welfare, and the planet.

The best choice is to get pasture raised organic. It’s always the most expensive, unfortunately, but it is definitely the gold standard and will help you achieve better health. 💚

Today's harvest - Elderflower!

Most people are familiar with the health and medicinal benefits of elderberry. But, did you know that elderflower is equally amazing?

The elder's are now in bloom. So, let's chat!

-Botanical name: Sambucus nigra, S. canadensis
-Family: Adoxaceae (formerly Caprifoliaceae)
-Parts used: Berries, flowers, leaf (topically only)
-Actions: Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiviral, decongestant, diaphoretic, diuretic, febrifuge, immune stimulant

While the berry and leaf can be worked with for a variety of things, we'll focus on the flower today.

Elderflower, like elderberry, is wonderful during cold and flu. The flowers are antiviral and diaphoretic. Drank as hot tea, or the tincture added to hot water or tea, promotes sweating to help bring down a fever. On the other hand, when the flower is consumed as a cold tea, they have a diuretic action, support detox pathways and can aid with constipation.

Their antiviral properties may help lessen cold and flu symptoms. Working with elderflower, and/or elderberry, may result in a shorter duration of the illness.

Elderflower is anti-inflammatory and expectorant, making them handy for sinusitis and seasonal allergies as they reduce inflammation of sinus tissues and mucus membranes. Perfect this time of year!

Their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties make them great for easing the discomfort of many types of irritated skin and irritated eyes (especially during allergy season!). Work with elderflower as a poultice, compress or cooled infusion for these purposes.

You can work with elderflower in a variety of ways - teas, tincture, infused vinegar, oxymels, infused honey, glycerites, elixers, cordials and infused wine. So many choices!

Keep an eye out for my Elderflower medicine making video!

Do you work with elderflower? I'd love to hear about your favorite ways to work with this powerful herbal ally in the comments. If not, tell me how you'll be preparing elderflower this season!

Happy herbing 🌱
