We extend our condolences to the family of Wayne Simpson during this difficult time.

H. Wayne Simpson, 87, of Hamilton passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, September 13, 2025. Born in Hamilton, Ohio on April 23, 1938 Wayne was the son of Herman and Eunice (Ward) Simpson. A 1956 graduate of Hamilton High School, he attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. On December 28, 1968, in Seven Mile, Ohio Wayne married Linda Carole Wilson, and they were married for 34 years before her death in January of 2003. Wayne worked as a programmer and systems analyst, eventually retiring after nearly 40 years, as a systems manager and consultant from the Ohio Casualty Group of Insurance Companies. A long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Wayne had been in recent years an active member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton. His faith in Christ was central to his life and evident in everything he did. Wayne was a lifelong athlete, and in 2016 was inducted into the Butler County Softball Hall of Fame, having played on numerous fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball teams in Southwest Ohio including Ocasco, Immanuel Baptist Church, Hamilton Merchants, and many others. Wayne was a Hamilton Big Blue Basketball season ticket holder for decades, and loved following local high school and college sports. He was a Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan, a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and a die hard Ohio State Buckeye fan. Saturdays at his house were reserved for watching the Buckeyes with his kids and grandkids. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and spending time at his summer home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. On a sunny day at home, you would likely find him outside working in the yard. Wayne was a devoted husband and father, papaw, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Prior to this sudden illness, he was the youngest and most active octogenarian you would ever meet. His absence will be profoundly felt by those who love him.
