π 911 Tips for a Safe & Sparkling 4th of July π
1. Know When to Call 911
π Call 911 ONLY for emergencies β fire, serious injury, or crimes in progress.
π Not for fireworks complaints unless there's danger to life or property.
2. Be Firework-Smart
π« Never try to relight malfunctioning fireworks.
π₯ If a fire starts, get to safety and call 911 immediately.
3. Keep Your Location Handy
π Know the address or location where youβre celebrating β GPS isnβt always perfect.
π£ Be ready to describe landmarks or intersections if youβre in a park or rural area.
4. Donβt Hang Up!
βοΈ Even if you call by accident, stay on the line. Dispatchers need to confirm you're safe.
5. Stay Calm, Speak Clearly
π Stay as calm as you can.
π£ Tell dispatchers what happened, where, and who needs help.
6. Mind the Kids & Pets
πΆ Keep kids away from fireworks and explain what an emergency is.
πΆ Loud noises can spook pets β make sure theyβre secured indoors.
7. Avoid Tying Up 911 Lines
π± Donβt call 911 to ask about public events, fireworks shows, or traffic β use non-emergency lines or city websites for that info.
