Alverno Laboratories is a full-service, community based clinical laboratory established in Hammond, Indiana and is a joint venture of Franciscan Alliance and AMITA Health.

Alverno’s innovative and state of the art laboratory is the only free-standing, local reference laboratory in its service area, providing comprehensive clinical laboratory testing and anatomical pathology services to physicians, clinics, hospitals and healthcare systems. We offer the convenience and customer service of a local laboratory with the sophistication of a large reference laboratory. Alverno employs approximately 2,100 staff members throughout its integrated laboratory network in Illinois and Indiana and process about 16 million tests at its central laboratory in Hammond, IN annually. Our central laboratory operate 24 hours, every day of the year and has the largest histology and cytology departments in the region. The laboratory Medical Director and pathologists (Pathology Consultants, Inc.) are available five days a week during business hours to answer questions of healthcare providers and clients. We service more than 30 hospitals and are growing continuously.
