What a beautiful partnership! Appleyard Equine Bodywork and The Ranch of Hope Reins have a shared focus of equine therapy, horse wellness and the connection between horse and human. Elizabeth Appleyard works with the horses at The Ranch to help ensure they are able to be their best in the therapeutic work that they do. Elizabeth also teaches the staff and volunteers how to effectively help our horses and to deepen our relationships with our horses. This is so important to The Ranch’s horses being healthy and able to do their very special and powerful work. And have you heard all the great benefits of mindfulness? This is an amazing way to work on this as you spend time with your horse. There are so many benefits for all!

Please purchase a fun piece of logo wear and spread the word of these two organizations that work together to bring health and healing to both horses and humans.

There is currently a proposal to make large widespread zoning changes in our village. It appears the changes all allow for more leniency in what is permitted, not more protection of residents and businesses. The Village of Hampshire Planning and Zoning Commission will be meeting on Monday Feb. 26th to discuss this issue. If you are concerned about what will be permitted in your neighborhood, near your business or even the impact on how this will change the way our village grows, please come with your questions and concerns to this meeting. And to be noted the property here on Dietrich Road will be rezoned M-1 allowing for the very proposal that we have fought this whole past year to keep from happening to be permissible.

We had to say goodbye last week to Buddy, this sweet, loving therapy horse. He only lived at The Ranch of Hope Reins for 21 months. He came to us with serious injuries from his past but with a heart so full of love. Buddy had a way of connecting so deeply. When someone looked in his eyes, he looked back, deep in their soul, and he saw them and loved them. His adorable soft squishy nose that he loved to have petted and squeezed will be remembered. Buddy taught people about boundaries, connection, friendship, love and so much more. And in the end he reminded us that letting go and saying goodbye is very painful, but it is truly worth it to be able to have loved and been loved. Thank you to for rescuing Buddy and allowing us the privilege of adopting him. Run free with Hope sweet Buddy.!

This is very important to the peaceful therapeutic environment of The Ranch of Hope Reins and Hope Reins. I want to bring awareness, not fear or worry to what is happening with the property rezoning here on Dietrich Road. This is very important to the peaceful therapeutic environment of The Ranch of Hope Reins and Hope Reins. This is the map of the rezoning proposal. The village of Hampshire Zoning and Planning Committee has already voted to recommend that the village trustees vote to rezone this property to O-M (office and restricted manufacturing.) What the petitioner is asking for would allow them to create a logistics park in these areas. This kind of development will remove the peaceful, quiet, natural environment that we have at The Ranch of Hope Reins. It will result in the noise of continuous semi-truck engines and constant beeping sounds as they back to the hundreds of docks. This is not a small operation that is planned but will involve hundreds of trucks traveling to and from this site daily. Not only will this be detrimental to the work of The Ranch of Hope Reins and Hope Reins it has the potential to cause many problems with pollution-air, water, sound and light to all the residents that live in the very close proximity to this proposal. It is very important that the Village of Hampshire board of trustees vote to protect not only the work done here at The Ranch of Hope Reins but also the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.

How you can help:
*Please come to the public hearing on Sept. 21, at 7pm at the Hampshire Middle School to show your concern about the decisions The Village of Hampshire trustees will be voting on at this meeting.
*It is a public hearing and people are allowed to speak and express their concerns. If you would like to speak on behalf of the significance of The Ranch of Hope Reins or Hope Reins, please do.

Journey of Hope Camp 2023
This camp is a beautiful partnership with Holt International. Every year I learn and grow. This year my eyes were really opened to the fact that these loving caring parents were struggling with and in pain over the very same thing that their precious hurting children are struggling with- the desire to connect! They both desperately want connection! But the parents and the kids are both missing the skills and abilities to connect. This is one of the beautiful concepts of The Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) model that is taught and practiced at camp. At the core of the model is that developmental trauma is healed through a connected relationship. So during camp not only do the parents and kids learn, they also get to practice these skills with our amazing horses who are fabulous teachers of all things TBRI!

Are you 100% focused in the present when you are working with your horse?

This is one of the blessings of working with horses! By being in the moment with all the worries and cares of the world are forgotten for a time.

Be focused in the present with a plan of success for your session, your horse will thank you.

The saying may be "it takes a village to raise a child." But in this case we need the whole village to help care for this sweet little therapy horse. Jackie is not owned by The Ranch of Hope Reins. However she lives at The Ranch and she is a significant part of the horse therapy team. If we can all share this and contribute just a little bit- together we can relieve Jackie of her pain and help her continue to be an amazing therapy horse.

It has now been a week and I can finally post this. On May 8th this sweet beautiful therapy horse was put to sleep. Hope was an amazing therapy horse and she is missed by many. One of the lessons Hope taught through her life, is that there is beauty in reaching past your own pain, to be there for others in theirs. This was Hope's life. She struggled since she was three years old with an awful disease that caused so many problems for her. But it was in her weakness that she found her strength. She was so sensitive to people who were hurting and grieving. She sought them out and just wanted to be with them, to hold space for them. She was such a good listener to people's words and their hearts. So we say goodbye to our beautiful Hope, knowing she can now lay down and rest peacefully and is without fear. But we will carry her forward in our hearts with all the beautiful things she has taught us.In our grief lets breathe in the beautiful connection we had with her and breathe out peace- that is Hope!

The Ranch of Hope Reins is the red arrow. All that is outlined in red is property that is being petitioned to be annexed by the Village of Hampshire and be rezoned to M3- heavy industry! It is hard to believe that we moved from the other side of Hampshire because of ComEd only to now find our beautiful peaceful therapeutic property being threatened again! Please sign the petition in this link. https://chng.it/Gmb2RVFhBN
There is also a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting tonight at 7pm at the Hampshire Middle School, 560 S. State Street Hampshire. If you have time, come support all those who will be seriously impacted by this change, including The Ranch of Hope Reins and Hope Reins.

Activities are all ground-based, so no horse-back riding. No horse experience needed.

Have you ever dreamed too big? We just did and I want to tell you why. We dreamed of giving 5 kiddos the opportunity to do the Stable Moments program almost for free BECAUSE:
These kiddos have endured serious trauma.
These children deserve to experience healing and learn to be resilient.
These families are sacrificing to endure the pain and suffering alongside these kiddos.
AND because; we know we live in a community that cares and has the ability to give these children the gift of hope and healing.

We have almost raised enough money for one scholarship. Thank you so much for those of you who have donated!! This campaign is almost over. Our Stable Moments program for 2022 starts March 5th. Please consider donating to bless these children. And we are still enrolling kiddos, so share this info with any foster and adoptive families.

Together we can bring hope and healing to help these children not just survive, but to thrive.
