has come to a close! Another fabulous month of getting my arse outside every single day! I’m always filled with so much gratitude for the friendships within this challenge, grateful that my body allows me to participate, grateful to have the gear & layers that allow me to be outside in frigid temps & at night.
A month outside in cold weather does a body good! Plus, it’s perfect base training for the upcoming months! Thank you for organizing this again!

Day 6 - 5.48mi.
After carting one child around, I ran 3ish while waiting for my other kiddo to get out of practice. Wanting to keep up my 5mi per day streak, I walked a couple more when I got home. Carving out moments to get outside here & there really does work.

Our brains tend to allow negativity to overwhelm positivity, which makes it easy to feel as though nothing’s going right.

Part of being mindful is taking the time to pay notice to all the beautiful and wonderful things in our lives, which can help push out the negativity.

Make it a habit to list off at least five things that you’re grateful for every day. Do it while you’re making coffee, waiting at a stoplight, or brushing your teeth.

So many of us shovel food into our mouths while watching tv, while driving, or while sitting at our office desk.

Set the intention of eating more mindfully by preparing food that you can look forward to, and eating it in an environment that is enjoyable.

Food is social - so try and eat your meals with people. This will also allow you to slow down while you eat since you’ll be chatting.

If you don’t have a dinner companion, make it a point to set your eating utensils down often, chew more than 12 times per bite, and savor your first and last bite.

Our days get busy, and distractions are everywhere. To combat this and stay on track with mindfulness, set reminders in spaces that you frequent regularly throughout the day.

Maybe it’s a magnet on your refrigerator or a photograph on your desk. Perhaps you take a deep breath every time you walk through your front door. Whatever you choose, it will be a conscious trigger that makes you snap back into reality from the thoughts flying around your mind.

As you start to incorporate more mindfulness into your day and tap into your stream of consciousness, you’ll realize that your mind is constantly thinking and moving to make sense of the world around you.

Make it a point to allow your thoughts to come and go, without judging them.

Say you’re walking through a hallway and notice someone wearing a sweater that you think is really unflattering. Your mind might think - “wow, that’s ugly.” Then shift to, “oh no, I shouldn’t think like that, I’m a bad person.”

Instead, have your initial thought - recognize it, then move on. Accept that your thoughts are part of your current narrative, good or bad.
