Hello Friends!
Many of you know I run a private practice offering psychiatric and family care in NC. What you might not know is the challenge many Nurse Practitioners (NPs) face: we must pay a physician for supervision we rarely need, simply due to outdated laws. Thankfully, I have a supportive physician with reasonable fees, but some NPs pay up to $25,000 a year for just two mandatory meetings!
📅 Imagine this: if my collaborating physician decides to end our agreement, I would have just 30 days to find another or shut down my practice. This is the harsh reality many NPs face.
But here's the good news: the VA has already demonstrated that Full Practice Authority (FPA) for NPs does NOT compromise care quality. Data from VA facilities in NC shows no increase in complaints or safety concerns since NPs became Licensed Independent Practitioners. 💪
🏥 Studies also show that NPs provide care that is equal to or even better than that provided by Physicians. Patient satisfaction and outcomes are often higher under nurse-led care. The most recent Gallup Poll even voted nursing as the most ethical and honest profession once again!
