Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation, Inc. Enhancing the Lives of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Programs on our 38 acre campus are provided by Eggleston Services.

The Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation is a public Foundation which is privately funded. We also have a gymnasium and special events center that are used by a variety of groups that provide programs for adults and kids with intellectual and/or development disabilities to provide fun recreation activities for members. Our partners with these services include:

Explorer Post 140, the largest Scouting group for men and women with disabilities in the US meets on our campus and provides recreational opportunities for adult men and women with disabilities. The Explorer Post's Camp Parkitan summer camp is every June on the campus of the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center. "Special Friends" Exchange Club also meets on our campus. These adults with disabilities play kindnesses forward by giving back to the communities that have helped them.

The Foundation couldn't be more excited to have been a part of kicking off this fun and engaging program. This new partnership with Let's Mingle on the Peninsula is in full swing and we can't wait to see what's next for this crew. Kudos to the artists and their amazing pieces.

In-session: November 3, 2025 - November 23, 2025

The IEP process can be difficult and stressful. Conflict may occur as a result of managing emotions while simultaneously following policy and procedures. IEP University was developed to help provide families and professionals with accurate and useful information around IEP development and meetings.

The Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation is thrilled to announce the appointment of new Board of Trustees Member, Pamela Croom!

Pam is the SWaM Business Services Coordinator for the City of Newport News and former Virginia PTA President, to name a few of her many accomplishments. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in community engagement, advocacy, and leadership. We are honored to have her on our team.

June has been a full month! Please join us as we thank our Treasurer, Sarah Puckett, for more than ten years of dedicated service on the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation Board of Trustees. We sincerely appreciate her contributions and support; and will miss working with her.

As we say farewell to Sarah, we are delighted to welcome two new Trustees, Kristi Chamberlain and Ashley Smith. Their insights and expertise will be huge assets to the Foundation and we look forward to working with them in the new year.

Our Story

The Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation is a public Foundation which is privately funded. Programs on our 38 acre campus of 13 buildings are provided by Eggleston Services. Eggleston offers quality services for the disabled of our community: business services providing meaningful work for a meaningful wage; a day support program for adults and seniors; and four homes with 30 adults residing in a comfortable, caring environment. We also have a gymnasium and special events center that are used by a variety of groups that provide programs for adults and kids with intellectual and/or development disabilities to provide fun recreation activities for members. Our partners with these services include: Explorer Post 140, the largest Scouting group for men and women with disabilities in the US meets on our campus and provides recreational opportunities for adult men and women with disabilities.
