Sentara CarePlex Hospital is a technologically advanced, acute care hospital, and Certified Primary Stroke Center located in Hampton, Va.

The 224-bed hospital offers an eICU® to monitor patients even more closely with state-of-the-art equipment and computer software. Sentara CarePlex Hospital provides care through advanced surgical programs, emergency cardiac intervention and fellowship-trained physicians. It is also home to the Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, the area's first dedicated orthopedic hospital, taking specialized orthopedic care to a new level.

Yesterday, the Sentara CarePlex Hospital team came together to celebrate a major milestone: officially submitting our Magnet document!

With our “Journey to the Stars” theme guiding the way, the moment was marked with excitement (and even a special appearance from Cosmo the inflatable alien 👽).

Market Chief Nursing Officer Shannon Martin led the celebration, hitting “submit” alongside the Magnet champions who helped bring this incredible work to life.

This achievement reflects dedication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to nursing excellence. The stars are just the beginning!

We are one of eight Sentara Health hospitals that have earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for spring 2026! 🏆

Additionally, Sentara CarePlex Hospital and Sentara Leigh Hospital are 2 of just 11 U.S. hospitals with 29 consecutive “A” grades from Leapfrog.

This is the highest recognition for patient safety among U.S. hospitals and reflects excellence across 20+ evidence-based safety measures of preventable medical errors, infections and injuries.
