Meet the Team: Katie, Activity Director at Rehabilitation Center of Hampton

Katie likes to joke that she’s the “hired fun,” and honestly, it shows. When residents see her coming, they know something good is about to happen. Whether she’s planning a big Fourth of July bash with games, karaoke, and a grill-out, or simply bringing energy into the day, Katie is all about creating moments people look forward to.

She’s also known for wearing a few hats 🧢 Along with activities, she helps with hair at both Rehabilitation Center of Hampton and Leahy Grove Assisted Living, so she’s just as likely to be asked about the day’s schedule as she is about the next haircut opening.

Outside of work, Katie is busy keeping up with her husband, Lamont, and their three kids, Trey, Drew, and Cameron, who keep life full and always on the go. At work, her goal is simple but meaningful: to make sure every resident feels welcome, comfortable, and truly seen. She regularly connects with residents to shape activities around what they actually enjoy, because to Katie, this isn’t just a facility, it’s their home.

And if you catch her on a good day? She’s probably outside with residents, planning an outing, or helping lead the men’s group alongside a very special volunteer - her dad.

Around here, Katie brings the fun, but more importantly, she brings heart.

Meet the Team: McKayla B., Assisted Living Manager at Leahy Grove

McKayla brings more than a decade of experience in senior care to her role as Assisted Living Manager at Leahy Grove. Her journey in long-term care started in dietary services, where she quickly became known as someone who was always willing to step in and help wherever she was needed, cross-training in housekeeping and laundry along the way.

Wanting to provide even more hands-on support for residents, McKayla went on to earn her CNA certification and later gained additional credentials in activities coordination, home health care, and medication administration. Her career path reflects her dedication to caring for residents in a thoughtful, compassionate, and well-rounded way.

Today, McKayla leads her team with empathy, firsthand experience, and a strong commitment to resident well-being. She believes in leading by example and creating an environment where both residents and staff feel supported.

Outside of work, McKayla enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and getting outdoors whenever she can. She’s also a big dog lover and has quite the pack at home - three French Bulldogs and one English Bulldog! You’ll often find her and her husband checking out local car shows around the area.

We’re grateful for the heart, leadership, and dedication McKayla brings to the Leahy Grove community every day!

In honor of Social Worker Month, we’re shining a spotlight on Brianna and the incredible work she does for our residents and families every day.

Brianna graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and has spent the past eight years working as a long-term care social worker. One of the things she loves most about her role is advocating for residents and building meaningful relationships with both residents and their family members, making sure they feel heard, valued, and supported.

Outside of work, Brianna enjoys traveling internationally, shopping, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband Jake stay busy at home with their identical twin boys, who will be turning four next month.

We’re so grateful for Brianna’s compassion, dedication, and the heart she brings to our community every day. Thank you for all you do!

In honor of Long-Term Care Administrator’s Week, we’re proud to recognize Jordie and the leadership she brings to our community as Administrator!

Strong leadership in long-term care takes both strategy and heart, and Jordie brings plenty of both. With a background as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and experience in social services, she understands that great care is holistic. It’s not just about meeting clinical needs, it’s about emotional support, connection, and making sure every resident is treated with dignity.

Jordie leads with intention and a truly collaborative spirit. She believes the best ideas come from working together and encourages her team to share their thoughts, support one another, and always keep residents at the center of what they do.

Her favorite part of working in long-term care is getting to know residents and their families and walking alongside them through the experiences and transitions that bring them to our community.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find Jordie spending time with her niece and nephew, golfing with her husband, or cooking up something delicious for friends and family.

We’re incredibly grateful for the compassion, leadership, and heart Jordie brings to our residents, families, and staff every single day!
