🪔🙏🏽🎇 The second day of Diwali is called Naraka Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali.
Here's what it signifies and how it's celebrated:
🙏🏽👹🙏🏽Significance: This day celebrates the victory of good over evil.
🗡️⚔️It commemorates the slaying of the demon Narakasura by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama. It is also believed that on this day, Lord Krishna's devotee, Satyabhama, killed the demon Narakasura. In some regions, it's associated with the goddess Kali and her triumph over the demon Raktavija.
Rituals:
* Early Baths: People wake up early and bathe, often with fragrant oils and ubtans (pastes made from herbs and flour). This is considered to purify the body and soul.
* Home Decoration: Homes are decorated with diyas (oil lamps) and rangolis (colorful patterns made with rice flour, sand, or flower petals).
* Worship: Prayers are offered to Lord Krishna, Satyabhama, or Kali, depending on regional traditions.
* Festivities: Although it's called "Choti" (small) Diwali, many people celebrate with fireworks and small feasts.
Regional Variations
* Hanuman Puja: In some parts of India, especially Gujarat, this day is also observed as Hanuman Puja, honoring the monkey god Hanuman.
* Kali Chaudas: In Rajasthan and Gujarat, the day is known as Kali Chaudas, with a focus on appeasing the goddess Kali.
No matter how it's celebrated, the second day of Diwali is a time for joy, purification, and the triumph of light over darkness. ⚔️✨🎇✨⚔️
