I started this page in hopes of gaining a follower with an answer as to the life of Maude Davidson, prior to her marriage to William Pruitt in 1905.
To get the whole picture, you would need to go all the way back to the start of the page and look at each post from the beginning to here.
Maude had no birth certificate, I cannot find evidence of her obtaining a “Delayed Birth Certificate” as her children did, and i havent found any church documents, or any other documents, that will directly link her to a birth family.
Maude was living with her oldest daughter Marie when she passed away. Her parents were listed as unknown on her death certificate. You would think that if anyone would know who Maude’s parents were, it would be her oldest daughter? You would think Marie, my grandmother Susie or one of the children would have known who their grandparents were and would have put that information on the death certificate ?
While i still do not have concrete evidence, and may never have concrete evidence, that Maude’s parents, (“D.N. & Nancy), as listed on that 1905 marriage record, are in fact Daniel M Davidson and Nancy (Bailey) Davidson of the Thompson Valley area of Tazewell Virginia, I do believe this is her parents and her family.
My father and i have taken the ancestry DNA test and we have DNA matches, although very few, to this family line.
I do also believe that the person listed in the 1900 Census of the United States, in the Jeffersonville District of Tazewell County Virginia, on sheet 12, House number 221, line number 80, “Mondo Davidson” is in fact, my Great Grandmother Maude Davidson. The birth date and age doesn’t match, but I believe it could be incorrectly listed here as there are numerous other errors on this census as well.
The head of house 221 was her oldest brother Joseph Davidson. Joseph and Sarah had a 6-month old son, William Davidson, at the time of the census. Maude may have been living with them to help tend to the chores, or to help with the baby so chores could be done, who knows?
Until I find more evidence to tie her to any other lineage, I’m going to assume this family is our family.
