After restoring structure to the chin and jawline, I turned my attention to a detail that is often overlooked…the earlobes.

As we were treating, I noticed subtle volume loss in the earlobes and asked the patient whether her earrings still sat the way they used to. She immediately connected with the question.

With her consent, I treated the earlobes as a demonstration for my student, and the patient was beyond thrilled with the result.

Earlobe rejuvenation is one of those details that can elevate an outcome from beautiful to complete. When the face is refreshed but surrounding features are overlooked, contrast can unintentionally highlight age rather than soften.

This is something I emphasize in training. Patients often arrive focused on one area, but our role is to assess the entire landscape and guide with education so decisions are thoughtful and outcomes feel harmonious.

For practitioners, I used Juvederm Ultra and placed it at a depth similar to, or slightly deeper than, a traditional lip treatment. Control and subtle support are key.

Anyone else incorporating earlobe restoration into their practice?

Smooth results start with a full-face approach ✨

Kate is treating both bunny lines and under-eye lines by precisely injecting the nasalis and orbicularis oculi—because great results aren’t just about a smooth forehead. It’s about balance, harmony, and treating the face as a whole.

When every detail is considered, the outcome is natural, refreshed, and beautifully you 💉

For years, the skincare industry has moved toward cruelty free standards.

Patients have become more intentional about choosing products that are not tested on animals and that reflect a higher level of ethical responsibility.

That expectation should not stop at skincare.

Medical aesthetics deserves the same level of consideration.

Not all botulinum toxin products follow the same path when it comes to development, validation, and testing. These differences influence consistency, dosing, and overall performance.

Advancements in testing methods represent more than progress. These advancements reflect a shift toward more precise, reproducible science that measures activity at the cellular level.

In my practice, Botox Cosmetic is chosen because that standard is met. A product that is cruelty free, supported by animal free testing methods, and developed with a commitment to advancing both science and ethical responsibility.

Because how a product is made matters just as much as the result.

Do you know which products are cruelty free and which still rely on animal testing?

There’s something incredibly powerful about stepping outside first thing in the morning and letting natural sunlight hit your eyes.

Before the phone. Before the coffee. Before the noise of the day.

That early light is like a reset button for your brain.

It tells your body “we’re awake now.”
It helps regulate your circadian rhythm, boosts your mood, sharpens your focus, and sets you up for better sleep later that night.

Just a few minutes can make a real difference. No sunglasses. No window glass. Just you and the light.

And one more thing most people get wrong…

Hold your coffee for about 30 minutes after waking.

Your body naturally releases cortisol in the morning to wake you up. If you drink caffeine right away, you’re stacking stimulation on top of what your body is already doing, which can lead to an energy crash later.

Give your body time to wake itself up first. Then bring in the coffee.

If you’ve been feeling off, low energy, poor sleep, brain fog, start here.

Step outside. Look toward the horizon, not directly at the sun. Breathe.

Small habits. Big shift.

A common justification for backfilling filler into an insulin syringe is “better control.” On the surface, that sounds reasonable. A smaller needle may feel like it offers more precision and finer placement. But that perceived control comes at a cost that’s often overlooked. You are fundamentally altering the product itself.

Dermal fillers are engineered with very specific rheological properties, including cohesivity, elasticity, viscosity, and HA concentration. These characteristics determine how the product lifts, integrates, and how long it lasts.

Forcing that gel through an ultra fine insulin needle places significant shear stress on the material. This can disrupt the cross linked HA network, effectively breaking down the structure that gives the filler its strength and longevity.

What does that mean in practice?

Reduced duration. Degraded cross linking can lead to faster enzymatic breakdown, so results do not last as long.

Lower cohesivity. The filler may spread unpredictably instead of staying where it is placed.

Altered HA concentration behavior. Even if the concentration has not chemically changed, its functional performance is compromised.

Decreased lifting capacity. A weakened structure provides less support and projection.

There is also a critical issue of sterility. Backfilling requires transferring product from its original sterile system into another device, which increases the risk of contamination. Even with careful technique, each additional handling step introduces an opportunity for bacteria or particulates to enter, raising the risk of infection or inflammatory complications.
So while it may feel like you have more control with a smaller needle, you are actually sacrificing the very properties that make the product perform well in the first place. *continued on comments*

Today’s fillers are highly regulated, FDA approved, and designed to restore, not distort.

What we are seeing more of lately is not a product issue. It is poor judgment, lack of restraint, and a failure to respect facial anatomy.

Too much. Too often. Too soon.

At some point, enhancement stops being enhancement.

If you have had filler done elsewhere and it no longer feels like you, you are not alone and you are not stuck.

We are offering dissolving treatments for patients who want to start fresh, along with a credit toward proper, balanced restoration at DCCM. The credit is valid for eight weeks.

Our approach is different. We do not chase volume. We restore structure, proportion, and identity.
The goal was never to change your face. It is to bring you back to it.
