🧠 ADHD vs. Autism (ASD): What’s the Difference? 🤔
As a parent, it can be confusing when your child struggles with focus, social skills, or emotional regulation. Many signs of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) can overlap—but they are two different diagnoses.
Here’s a quick breakdown ⬇️
🔹 ADHD
– Trouble focusing or sitting still
– Impulsive behavior
– Talks a lot or interrupts
– Easily distracted
– Struggles to complete tasks
– Often acts without thinking
🔹 ASD
– Difficulty with social interaction
– Repetitive behaviors or routines
– Intense focus on specific interests
– Sensory sensitivities (sound, texture, light)
– Struggles with change
– Delayed or unusual communication
❗Both conditions can include emotional outbursts, trouble making friends, and challenges at school—but the reasons behind the behavior are different.
🩺 Always consult with a neurologist, psychologist, or developmental specialist for a full evaluation. A proper diagnosis is key to getting your child the right support.
Early help can change everything. 💙
