We held a mock elopement drill today at Canal View. We worked with local responders to successfully complete the drill.

The mock drill simulated a resident elopement from the facility. The drill provided all staff members, including caregivers, nurses and administrative staff the opportunity to practice established emergency and communication protocols that are currently in place for responding if a resident were to elope.

Mock drills such as this allow facilities to work through their established Emergency Preparedness protocol. The focus of the drill was, detection and reporting of elopement, search and recovery, and the communication and coordination with local authorities.
